The school year is already upon us, reminding us that the fall weather—rain and all—will be here to stay for a few long months. The chill in the air likely has most of us digging in our closets trying to find more layers and a warmer jacket. And it has also got us on the hunt for fun indoor play places in Vancouver!

We’ve put together a list of indoor play places in Vancouver to best suit the needs of your family. Go play and have fun, and let us know which play place is your favourite!

Laserdome Plus

Cliffhanger Vancouver

Near downtown Vancouver, this is one place you will definitely want to hang out with your kids. Geared for ages 6 and up, Cliffhanger Vancouver offers classes and specialized attention to beginner climbers as well as children. With activities ranging from kids belay sessions, to birthday parties, to junior climbing programs (ages 9 and up) to drop-in classes, Cliffhanger has it all. Be sure to stop by to give this place a visit.

Kidtropolis

This unique spin on "playground" is so cool. Kidtropolis is a actually a mini city so that your kids can have a realistic environment to do what comes naturally to them: role playing! Children can use their imaginations to run each of the businesses, whether it be making pizza in the parlour, delivering the mail, being a newscaster, or performing on their very own stage. There is a great cafe with delicious food, and small play areas around the seating. It can be a little on the pricier side for some families, but adult entry is free and you can stay as long as you'd like. It's worth checking out at least once!

Ooie World Activity Centre

Located in Surrey, BC, this is one of the indoor play places in Vancouver you’ll be sure to add to your list. Though Fun World is a little bit of an extra drive, the attractions for toddlers through teens will be worth the wait. With bumper cars, an indoor rock climbing wall, laser tag, video games, and a sizeable interactive playground, your kids are sure to find something of interest to keep them busy in the sprawling 7,500 square feet this place holds.

6 Pack Indoor Beach

In Richmond, and with the softest sand in the city, you will find an indoor beach welcome to ages 0 and up. Though greatly dedicated to indoor beach sports such as soccer and volleyball, this giant indoor sand box  has time slots available to the youngest babies and toddlers in your family. During this time, kids 7 and under are invited to dig and explore in the sand with toys, while those looking for a more laid back time can check the link above to inquire into when the 2014 kids movie night will be. The temperature is kept at a balmy 18C, but can be boosted up to 28C for special events. For those interested, 6 Pack Indoor Beach also hosts birthday parties on their sandy indoor beaches year round!

Science World

With such a varying display of interactive attractions, this is one of the spectacularly stimulating indoor place places in Vancouver that needs to be visited in person to fully absorb all that it has to offer. With varying displays from theatre shows, learning about history, and building play to learn about the laws of gravity, this is one spot where the mind and body will benefit from all of the available activity. Although admission to the Science World may seem pricey as a one-time visit, if it is one of your family’s favourite places to visit there are decently priced memberships available, and children under three get in for free!

The Adventure Zone

This adventure playground is amazing, and right in the heart of one of Vancouver's main attractions. With a multi-level playground where kids can finish off racing down slides, ball pits, and a huge arcade area with fun prizes to be won- there's no end to the ways to keep the kids happy. Their newer features iWall and iFloor are really cool, they are interactive virtual games, and a huge hit for something new and exciting to add.

Funky Monkey Fun Park

The Funky Monkey Fun Park is Surrey’s largest indoor amusement park and features a giant indoor playcenter (including a 40 ft triple slide, 6 gun ballocity arena, plasma car track), full sized bumper cars, 3000 sf laser tag arena and PNE quality amusement park rides (Monkey Hopper & Pirate Ship). With easy access from all of Metro Vancouver, the Funky Monkey Fun Park is the region’s premier indoor amusement facility.

We hope this list helps to keep you dry, occupied, and having fun as you begin to embark on this overcast and rainy season — in your favourite indoor play places in Vancouver!
