Canada Day is about to hit the the Peg. For parents looking for fun, family-friendly Canada Day 2014 events in Winnipeg, we’ve put together a list of all the great activities that you can enjoy with your kids to mark Canada’s 147th birthday on July 1.

With day-long festivities, music, and fireworks at The Forks, a family picnic at Assiniboine Park, a special day at Le Musée de Saint-Boniface Museum, a classic car show, and a baseball game, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this Canada Day.

Canada Day at The Forks

Canada Day at The Forks is one national birthday party not to be missed. The event features family-friendly activities all day long, including, musicians, buskers, crafts, and entertainment everywhere you look. Local talent will fill The Forks with three stages of spectacular entertainment: Under the Canopy from 5:30 p.m.–10:00 p.m., on the Railbridge from 1 p.m.–5:30 p.m., and the Scotiabank Stage from 4 p.m.–11 p.m.

This year’s stellar Scotiabank Stage lineup includes Del Barber, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. The evening closes with a captivating fireworks display at 11 p.m.

Canada Day at Kid City

Celebrate Canada Day at Kid City with a BBQ and more. Check back for additional details.

Osbourne Village Canada Day Street Festival

Enjoy all of the traditional favourites at The Osborne Village Canada Day Street Festival: including extended patios; music stages; handicrafts and nicknacks at the shopping village; excellent food; and the energy zone.

This year, the Family Zone is moving south to Gertrude and Osborne, and will feature more inflatable bouncers, obstacle courses, child entertainers, and pony rides!.

Canad Day Picnic in the Park

Join the fun and excitement by celebrating Canada on July 1, at the Canad Day Picnic in the Park. This family-oriented day is free to all who attend and a great way to celebrate our nation’s birthday in beautiful Assiniboine Park.

Canad Inns organizes the day-long festivities, which include games and activities for children, entertainment, and a spectacular fireworks display. A full day of activities is provided for the child in all of us. All events are held at the Assiniboine Park Lyric Theatre. Free “Park & Ride” parking is available at nearby Canadian Mennonite University or Asper Jewish Community Campus.

Canada Day at Fort Whyte Alive

Celebrate Canada Day at FWA with dip netting, bannock, and guided hikes.

Canada Day at Oak Hammock Marsh

Celebrate Canada day at the Marsh. Take the family for an exciting day of outdoor fun, face painting, and crafts. Cupcakes will be served at 2 p.m. Horse-drawn wagon rides take place from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Canada Day at Le Musée de Saint-Boniface Museum

Enjoy the Canada Day Celebrations at Le Musée de Saint-Boniface Museum. The Museum presents an impressive collection of artifacts that reveal the heritage of French-Canadian and Métis peo­ples in Manitoba.

Goldeyes vs. T-Bones

Spend Canada Day at the ball park, watching the Winnipeg Goldeyes vs. the Kansas City T-Bones. Shaw Park, home of the Winnipeg Goldeyes, is considered one of the finest ballparks in North America.

9th Annual Winnipeg River Car Club Canada Day Car Show

It’s time for the 9th Annual Winnipeg River Car Club Canada Day Car Show. Admission is free for spectators and the entrance fee is $10.00 per vehicle. Events include dash plaques, “Best of Show” awards, a 50/50 draw, door prizes, and the club fundraiser draw.
