Christmas is in the air, at least it’s feeling rather frosty! I just love this time of year though, all the pretty Christmas lights starting to make a presence, holiday drinks, and of course the children’s excitement! That’s why I’ve put together a list of some of the most wonderful kids Christmas Events in Halifax this year…

Holiday Parade of Lights (Past)
Join the fun at the 22nd Annual Chronicle Herald Holiday Parade with lights, music and entertainment…and a visit from Santa Claus! The parade will be broadcast live on Eastlink TV.
Don’t forget to bring a donation of non-perishable food or cash for FEED Nova Scotia, a new, unwrapped children’s toy for the C100/Cineplex Toy Drive, and your letter to Santa for Canada Post!
Festival of Trees is a two day event in support of the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia. The two-day Festival begins on November 24th with the Shannex Holiday Luncheon, at the WTCC at noon. There will be a wreath, and cake auction as well the Forest of Trees will be unveiled that day. The next evening on November 25th, there is the RBC Black Tie Gala, at the WTCC. Jimmy Rankin will be providing the entertainment, and the beautiful Forest of Trees will be bid upon, a silent auction and a very lively Live auction will take place too! We will be celebrating an East Coast Christmas so dig out your dancing shoes! All in support of the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia.
Nov 24-25th - The World Trade Convention Centre
A family tradition for 28 years! Kick off the season by sharing some holiday cheer. Make your way to the Halifax Citadel as the historic fort takes on a festive air with Victorian carols, crafts, games and, of course, Father Christmas. Enjoy some hot cider and don’t miss our Victorian photo booth – it’s the perfect way to capture some holiday magic to share with family and friends. Admission is free a non-perishable food donation to Feed Nova Scotia.
Nov. 25 - Halifax Citadel National Historic Site
A free Christmas event for the whole family, featuring rides on the Kiwanis Santa Claud Express Trains, visits from local mascots, free samples, Santa, glow sticks, free hot chocolate, Christmas tree lighting and FIREWORKS!
Dec. 2nd - NEW LOCATION: Alderney Landing Events Plaza
Make plans now to attend this years’ Sherbrooke Village Old Fashioned Christmas. The event will feature an opening night tree lighting, candle light procession, fireworks and karaoke. Over the next two weekends there will be Christmas craft sales and workshops, a concert, festive dining, Victorian teas, children’s Christmas Tea with storytime, closing night parade and more! There’s something for everyone this holiday season so get your “Hands On History” while getting into the holiday spirit at Sherbrooke Village!”
Nov. 24-26th and Dec. 2-3rd - Sherbrooke Village
Come experience our annual Christmas at the Barn markets at the Hubbards Barn & Community Park. There will be over 35 fantastic local artisans and delicious local food will take care of your Christmas list. Then you can grab a coffee and enjoy some great local music.

A traditional German market. Free family entertainment with Christmas Concerts, Maritime Marionette's "Nativity Story", a visit from Santa and more!
Dec. 1st - 3rd - Alderney Landing
Symphony Nova Scotia’s The Nutcracker has been Halifax’s favourite holiday tradition for 25 years! When a little girl’s toy comes to life, she’s whisked away to an enchanted world where she meets magical creatures, colourful new friends, and the ferocious Mouse Queen! Complete with larger-than-life puppets, spirited dancing, and Tchaikovsky’s hauntingly beautiful music, this tale of wonder and fantasy is a delightful seasonal treat for all ages. (multiple shows)
Dec. 8,9,10,14,15,16,17th - Rebecca Cohn Auditorium, Dalhousie University
Get ready to have a Charlie Brown style Christmas. Bring the whole family out to listen to the soundtrack performed by the Jerry Granelli Trio. The event is produced by acclaimed jazz percussionist, Artie Irwin. and features the Tuesday Night Band, Kitty & the Katz, George Hebert & Standard Time, and the Back Alley Big Band, ft. Doris Mason.
Dec. 10th - Spatz Theatre
On Saturday, December 2nd, drop by the clinic with your furry, feathered or scaly friends for our Annual Santa Paws Photo Event! We have seen almost every pet type - including Backyard Chickens, Rodents, Reptiles, Ferrets and of course Dogs & Cats!
Pictures are $15.00 for the first photo, and $5.00 for each additional copy - Bring a food donation to receive the second picture free! We print while you wait! 100% of donations from the event go to Feed Nova Scotia!
