Christmas Events in Hamilton

Ho, Ho, Ho! We're officially approaching the end of November, which means that Christmas and the wonderful events that go with it are just around the corner! There are some truly magical kids Christmas events in Hamilton this holiday season, so here’s a list of the best and brightest to get you started!

Candlelit Stroll

When: November 29, 2019
Where: Downtown Burlington

The Candlelit stroll is an annual carolling event in downtown Burlington, which launches the Lakeside Festival of Lights. Meet at Civic Square at 6:00 p.m. on November 29 to grab your candles, sip on a hot chocolate, and visit with Santa. At 7:00 p.m., the stroll throughout downtown Burlington will begin!


Mountain Christmas Lights for Kidz

When: November 29, 2019
Where: Sam Lawrence Park

Come and participate in a festive night to light up the Sam Lawrence Park pavilion. There will be free candy canes, hot chocolate, Christmas music, and food trucks. And did we mention that there will be a visit from Santa? Please bring an unwrapped toy in support of Mountain Kidz Club. 




Waterfront Festival of Lights

When: December 1, 2019, to February 29, 2020
Where: Pier 8, 47 Discovery Drive

Come and take in a spectacular array of brightly lit and coloured figures and designs on the Hamilton waterfront. 


Winter Lights at the Rock

When: Select nights December 6, 2019 to January 5, 2020
Where: Royal Botanical Gardens

Discover holiday magic at the picturesque Rock Garden! Thousands of festive lights lead you through a winter wonderland of charming Christmas melodies, festive sips and bites and the Escarpment Train Exhibit. Enjoy this unique holiday experience among other festivities at the Royal Botanical Gardens.


Victorian Christmas

When: Select days from November 23 to December 29, 2019
Where: Dundurn Castle

Enjoy the view of a mid-nineteenth century family Christmas Celebration, among other holiday events at Dundurn Castle.




Burlington Santa Claus Parade

When: December 1, 2019
Where: Downtown Burlington

Santa Claus is coming to town! See the big guy in red, marching bands, and holiday floats as they make their way down the parade route.


The Nutckracker

When: December 7, 2019
Where: First Ontario Centre

Holiday magic is made year after year by Ballet Jörgen’s traditional treasure The Nutcracker: A Canadian Tradition. Created by acclaimed choreographer and Artistic Director Bengt Jörgen to Tchaikovsky’s well-loved score, this delightful classic is a favourite that brings magic to the holidays.


Craftadian Christmas Market

When: December 7, 2019
Where: McMaster Innovation Park

Thousands of shoppers attend the annual Craftadian Christmas Handmade Market in Hamilton. This year, there will be 80 artisans and designers selling local and handmade gifts and treats for the holidays. Plus, for entertainment, there will be a DJ playing some soulful beats. Admission in $5. 




The North Pole Expo

When: December 8, 2019
Where: Carmen's Banquet Centre

Visit the North Pole Expo to shop from over 100 vendors from Hamilton and the surrounding areas. This is a great opportunity to support local businesses! Children also have the chance to meet Santa, the Grinch, and Hijo, a holiday Arctic Wolf. There will be a holiday backdrop where you can take professional family photos. And don't forget to enter the raffles to win some awesome prizes. 


Hamilton Winter Solstice Festival

When: December 21, 2019
Where: Corktown Park

Come out and celebrate the longest night of the year. Families are invited to join the parade of light with LED lanterns and battery-powered lights. You'll follow a trail where you'll come across spectacular projection art installations, stilted dancers, puppets, music, fire entertainers, and more. Also, indulge in hot beverages and holiday snacks.
