Searching for family-friendly Canada Day events in Hamilton? Well, look no further, because we’ve put together a full list of all the exciting festivities that you can enjoy with your kids in Hamilton on Canada’s 147th birthday.

This year’s highlights include day-long festivities and night-time fireworks in Bayfront Park, a celebration of Canadian heritage at Spencer Smith Park, an an historical take on Canada Day at Westfield Heritage Village.

Canada Day Celebration & Fireworks

The Canada Day Celebration & Fireworks are supported by the City of Hamilton and presented by The Dundas Valley Sunrise Rotary Club.

Enjoy more than ten of Ontario’s finest food trucks serving up Southern BBQ, Greek specialties, vegetarian cuisine, poutine, grilled cheese, tacos, hot dogs and ice cream from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Local entertainers will perform throughout the parks starting at 6 p.m. and includes face painters, balloonists, and more! The fireworks display will start at 10 p.m. and will be launched from the north-west point of Bayfront Park. Complimentary HSR shuttle bus starting at 6 p.m. from John Street (just north of King Street) to Pier 4 Park.

It’s Your Festival

It’s Your Festival is the oldest and biggest Canada Day Festival in Canada and one of the Top 100 Festivals in Ontario. It’s Your Festival is organized by Hamilton Folk Arts Heritage Council (Non-Profit Organization) and 4,000 dedicated volunteers. For the past 45 years, this event has attracted upwards of 6 million people with an attendance of over 150,000 in 2013. This 45th edition of our Festival will be celebrating Canada’s 147th Birthday for four fun-filled days, from June 28 to July 1 , 2014 in Gage Park, Hamilton.

Make sure to check out the baby parade at 10 a.m. on July 1.

Canada Day Military Tattoo

Enjoy a spectacular evening of musical celebration and experience a tradition that extends back over a century at the Canada Day Military Tattoo! Feel the thrill as the Regimental Band of the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry and the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Pipes and Drums perform out in front of Dundurn Castle. Catch a glimpse of the red coated defenders of Canada West during the Fenian Raids as the 13th Battalion Ceremonial Guard takes the field.

Canada Day in Burlington

Celebrate our Canadian Heritage with Canada Day at the Waterfront. Bring your national pride and explore the abundance of Canadian inspired activities and musical entertainment all day long in Spencer Smith Park. Events include performances on two stages, children’s activities throughout the day, the Nickel Brook Brewing Company licensed area, Canadiana Viewing Area presented by Liaison College Oakville and Nickel Brook Brewing Company, plus the Scholars in Collars dog training show.

Canada Day at Westfield Heritage Village

Tour through the historical village and discover what life was like in early Canada on Canada Day. Volunteers in period clothing entertain with interesting historical details and demonstrations throughout the day. Visit the gardens and forests, stroll on the boardwalk, or take a hike on the trails. This is a great opportunity for new Canadians to experience the history of Canada.

Canada Day at Wild Waterworks

Celebrate Canada Day at Wild Waterworks. Wear red and white and receive $3.00 off admission at the gate. Join in the fun with games and contests.

Canada Day at Pier 8 Skate and Jam

Celebrate Canada Day at Pier 8 Skate Jam, with ice skating, top DJs, and colouring stations for the little ones.

Canada Day at Joseph Bryant Museum

Celebrate Canada Day with Joseph Brant Museum! Take part in games, festive crafts, activities, museum tours and so much more. See special performances and live entertainment; explore the famous trifles & treasures market, have gourmet strawberry treats along with fresh strawberries and ice cream. Admission is free.
