It's the most wonderful time of the year! The top kids Christmas events happening around Edmonton are listed here, from parades, to performances, to spectacular light displays! There's something for everyone.

Everyday it seems there are more and more wonderful Kids Christmas Events in Edmonton popping up so I thought I’d tell you about a few so that you don’t miss out this holiday season! The best part is many of these events are absolutely free which is a real bonus this time of year!

The Snowflake Festival light up along Perron, Thomas and St. Michael’s Street is a Christmas celebration you won’t want to miss! Activities includes: the annual fill a bus campaign, horse & wagon rides throughout the Perron District sponsored by Live reindeer, hot chocolate from the St. Albert Lion’s Breakfast Club, shinny hockey, and more!
Friday November 25th from 6:30pm-9pmSt Albert Place, Community Hall, Public Library, and along multiple streets throughout St Albert
Celebrate the coming of winter with a stunning showcase of fashion, food, and entertainment on 124 St. Enjoy holiday-themed storefront displays, hot holiday drinks and food truck specialties, live music, sleigh rides, and a pop-up Christmas market to start your holiday shopping. At 6pm will be the countdown to the light up of 124 Street and High Street!

This 3 day event is one not to miss! Each year the Light Up The Night Festival is growing in size and scope, with fantastic activities including Lumenight, Fireworks Display and free movies along with the Tim Horton’s Santa Claus Parade and a Tree Lighting Ceremony to kick off the holiday season. This year there will be several new surprises. Here's what's on tap so you can plan:
Over 100 decorated trees and seasonal displays, many of which are designed by Edmontontians. The Festival of Trees has definitely become a family tradition, with many unique holiday shopping ideas, a variety of children’s activities in Children's Christmas Lane, and great local entertainment
A winter festival filled with horse-drawn sleigh rides, hot chocolate (of course), Christmas carols, a visit from Santa, and then fireworks to top it off! I think this free event will REALLY Bright Up Beaumont.
Stick around in December for the Winter Lights Contest. Beaumont’s annual residential lighting contest judges decorated houses on ‘buzz factor’ among other criteria. Contest winners are showcased online and in La Nouvelle Beaumont News. Nominate a residence to make sure it is included in the judging tour! Details and nomination form for this contest to come!
Attend the free festive family fun! Santa Claus, hot chocolate, hot dogs, hay rides, family skate, Christmas music! The parade route will begin at the Leduc Grain Elevator (47th Street and 52nd Avenue), heading west on main street, then south on 50th St to Alexandra Park. Parade will begin at 7PM Family activities including a free skate will be available at Alexandra Park from 7:30 - 9pm.

Edmonton’s Favourite Holiday Tradition, A Christmas Carol, continues for an unprecedented 16th year. With an unforgettable story, rich characters, and dazzling special effects, A Christmas Carol is exceptional family entertainment. Recommended for Children 7+.
Nov. 26-28th, 7pm. Citadel Theatre
The first day of this month-long event features a choir performance and the Premier’s ceremonial turning on of the colourful lights outside the Legislature buildings. During the rest of the month, guests can enjoy afternoon and evening choir performances and hot chocolate when visiting the Legislature rotunda.
December 3rd- December 23rd daily from 7pmThe Alberta Legislature
You’ve been to the Zoo before but now it’s time to see the place in a whole new light. Literally. For almost two weeks, the Edmonton Valley Zoo will illuminate the spirit of winter in Edmonton with The Festival of Light. So brighten up your night and come on down to cavort with the creatures, slide into your skates, create a craft, or feel the heat of fire dancers.
December 8th- December 18th, daily from 5pm-9pm
Get in the Christmas spirit by checking out the amazing light displays! The tour takes you to Candy Cane Lane, the Alberta Legislature, and more amazing stops. It costs $5, and tours depart every 15 minutes.

All Christmassy-feeling activities will be here, bonfires, marshmallow roasting, Drummer Girl, storytelling, entertainers, Christmas lanterns, Mrs. Claus, letters to Santa, even a Christmas magic show! A Prairie Christmas would be a great day trip for the kidlets.

Go see the 35-foot Singing Christmas Tree, how cool! The Singing Christmas Tree inspires audiences with new stories of joy, love, and wonder leaving people with a lasting message that reminds us what is most important about Christmas time! With new arrangements of songs, knock-your-socks-off dance numbers, the most incredible local talent and international talent, the show will be the hit of the holiday season!
