Canada Day is coming to the Big E! For all you parents looking for fun, family-friendly Canada Day events in Edmonton, we’ve assembled a list of all the great activities that you can enjoy with your kids to mark Canada’s 148th birthday on July 1.

There really is something for everyone to enjoy this Canada Day, with day-long festivities, music, and fireworks at Mill Woods, celebrations at the Alberta Legislature, birthday events at Edmonton Valley Zoo, Dominium Day at Fort Edmonton Park, and much more.

Canada Day at the Alberta Legislature

Canada Day at the Alberta Legislature honours our province’s history and celebrates our cultural diversity. Enjoy a full day of entertainment and activities for the entire family, featuring some of the best local Alberta talent in music and dance.

Canada Day at the Edmonton Valley Zoo

The Edmonton Valley Zoo will be celebrating Canada Day. You and your kids will enjoy an incredible array of entertainment and lots of surprises to make the day memorable. You and your kids will have the opportunity to experience an incredible array of entertainment and special surprises to help mark this momentous occasion, take part in our scavenger hunt, visit the Adventure Bus, learn to paint like Lucy, receive an air brushed tattoo, enjoy some live music and learn about all of our Canadian animal friends!

Canada Day at the Muttart Conservatory

Celebrate our nation’s 148th birthday with a visit to the Muttart Conservatory. Enjoy Canada Day crafts and face painting. Treats and fun activities will be available throughout the day—a fun event for the whole family!

Time: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Location: Muttart Conservatory

25th Annual Mill Woods Canada Day Celebration

Join the Annual Canada Day Celebration in Mill Woods. The day will be filled with activities all day for the family, including hay rides, carnival games, colouring stations, face painting, bouncy castles, and large inflatables obstacle courses. A concert runs through the afternoon and evening, concluding at 11 p.m. with a fireworks display.

Canada Day at the Art Gallery of Alberta

Celebrate Canada Day at the Art Gallery of Alberta, with free Gallery admission. Bring the whole family for art activities, a BBQ, and a chance to view the exciting exhibitions.

Canada Day at Devonian Botanical Gardens

Celebrate Canada Day in one of the prettiest settings around! Enjoy Canada Day at Devonian Botanical Gardens, with musical entertainment, crafts and games for the kids and Canada Day cake!

Canada Day at Fort Saskatchewan

Gather your friends and family and dress is your snazziest red and white clothes. Get ready to celebrate the City of Fort Saskatchewan’s main event, Canada Day—Fort Saskatchewan style! Every July 1st, residents and visitors honour Canada’s Birthday in an all-encompassing, old-fashioned community celebration.

Canada Day at Spruce Grove

On July 1, 2014, residents of Spruce Grove will gather at Jubilee Park to celebrate Canada’s 148th Birthday! Activities, vendors, demonstrations, entertainment and fireworks will all be part of the day.

St. Albert Celebrates Canada Day

St. Albert Celebrates Canada Day will see another city-wide event for residents and visitors. City parks, facilities and historical sites will see a myriad of activities and fun, allowing for residents of all ages and interests to celebrate Canada’s 148th birthday. Starting off with a pancake breakfast, a fun filled day of activities and entertainment, and then end the night with a BANG with a spectacular fireworks display.
