We’ve found the best kids Halloween events in Sacramento to keep you and your family in the Halloween spirit!


1. Gibson Ranch Park Pumpkin Festival 

Enjoy affordable, family fun at the Gibson Ranch pumpkin patch! A kid zone is packed with entertainment including bounce houses, a kiddie train, face painting, and much more. The farmer’s market and peddler’s fair will provide one-of-a-kind gifts made by local artisans and seasonal produce grown in the Sacramento valley.

2. Annual Antelope Crossing Spooktacular

Enjoy live entertainment, carnival games, face painting, holiday shopping at the vendor craft fair, and other fun activities. Plus, attendees receive free raffle tickets for some really cool prizes.  Come early to sign up for and participate in the highlight of the day, the Children’s Costume Contest!

3. Spooky Halloween River Cruise

For three weekends in October, Hornblower will be cruising along the Sacramento River with a fun, family-friendly Halloween River cruise. Spend one-hour cruising along the Sacramento River as the evening creeps in with the chilling sounds of background Halloween-themed music. Take your family to the coloring area where spooky Halloween-themed coloring sheets will be available, or stop to have your faces painted!

Saturdays and Sundays in October (starting on the 13th), with multiple boarding times per day

4. Spookomotive Train Ride

This delightful, not frightful train is just the ticket for the whole family. On weekends in October, guests will enjoy exciting on-board entertainment and a tasty Halloween treat. The whimsically decorated and diesel-powered train ride is crawling with spiders, cobwebs and cornstalks, and staffed by a “skeleton crew.” Train ride guests are encouraged to get in the spirit and dress up according to fun weekly themes!

5. Halloween Haunt

Since 1991, Halloween Haunt has offered a unique setting and safe alternative to Trick-or-Treating for families with young children. Set in Safetyville USA, the unique miniature city, the event features carnival games, a costume parade, safety demonstrations and activities, and of course, trick-or-treat stations!

6. Midtown Halloween Festival & Pooch Parade

Four-legged friends will strut their stuff and show off some creative costumes for a chance to win prizes! The event will also highlight Midtown’s popular mobile off-lease “Pop-Up Dog Park” and include family-friendly activities including face painting, a bounce house, hands-on arts and crafts and entertaining live music.

7. Carmichael Park Falling Leaf Craft Festival

This fun festival includes great family fun with themed games, prizes, and a great silent raffle auction, a doggy costume and pumpkin carving contest, and more! There will also be chef demos, band, a gourmet food court, beer and wine corral and over 150 farmers, food, specialty and artisan/crafter vendors.

8. Safe & Super Halloween

Dinosaurs will take over Fairytale Town for four nights of trick-or-treating and family fun! Enjoy 15 treat stations, take photos with dinosaurs, dig for fossils, walk in the costume parade, and more.

October 19th, 20th, 21st, 28th from 5pm-9pm

9. Trunk or Treat

Join for this FREE family event! Candy and prizes, face-painting, and a live performance will be part of the fun. A "trunk or treat" is essentially "door-to-door" trick or treating from one car to the next in a safe parking lot environment. Great for younger kids!
