Children’s Birthday Party Ideas in Victoria BC [Post 1 of 4 …]

My daughter Jaimee is turning 5 on February 1st. She is very excited about her birthday party, as is her 8 year old sister and her fun loving Dad … I must plan something special for her / them.

It wouldn’t be so difficult if she were born in the summer, when a warm beach and a box of popsicles could satisfy any child and dad. But what to do in VictoriaBC in the middle of winter with a group of children, when all I want to do is sit by a cosy fireplace and curl up with a good book?

So, off to the Internet for some research, and at the prodding of my husband James, I’m turning this research into a series of blog posts on Children’s Birthday Party Ideas forVictoriaBC. I’m going to write four blog posts, covering:

1 – Party Options for Crafty Kids
2 – Cool & Unusual Birthday Parties
3 – Parties for the Active Child or Teen
4 – Free, Low-Cost, & Do-It Yourself Birthday Parties

and will be releasing a new blog post in this series every week.

So, here are the ideas for the first blog post -> Party Options for Crafty Kids

Danielle’s Pottery Painting Studio has parties for children 5 years old and up. They require a minimum of 8 guests. Each painter gets to choose a piece of pottery and try their hand at painting it using brushes and/or stencils and stamps. The price for a party was not available on the website, but if you’re interested in finding out more contact them through their site at:

At Crafty, you can choose from 4 different crafty creation themed parities where guests can make and take home their pottery, bath products, or woolly creations. Parties can accommodate up to a maximum of 8 guests at $35/guest, and are most appropriate for children between ages 4-12. Check it out at:

4 Cats Arts Studio, offers a wide range of party options for the creative kid, teen, or adult. Try out a clay creation, a pop art painting, a self-portrait, or something fairy tale inspired. Parties require a minimum of 10 guests at approximately $17/guest. Check out the options at:

Michael’s Craft Store has some great crafty party options for children that include beading, painting, and building a bear. The store requires a minimum of 5 guests and the cost of the party is dependent on the type of project you decided upon.,default,pg.html

Would love to hear from you readers if you know of any additional party ideas for the “crafty kid” or if you have had any experience with these venues. Cheers until next time, when I take a peek at some cool and unusual birthday party offerings.
