So, as it turns out my crafty kid isn’t looking for a crafty birthday party. Bummer. I was secretly hoping for a cute self-portrait from 4 Cats that I could hang in our family room. Ok, so how about something cool and unusual? Maybe a cooking class, or something educational like a science show of some sort?
My research continues and here is what I have discovered:
At Lizzy Lee & Me, they offer some fun parties for young girls who are into making personal potions and lotions with sparkles and gels. As well, they do nails, hair, and princess like things. Parties can accommodate between 4-6 guests, and are appropriate for girls between 4-13 years of age. Parties start at approximately $30/guest. Check them out at: http://lizzyleeandme.com/parties
Maybe a visit to the Bug Zoo? They have a party room available and group rates but their website didn’t indicate the specific rate. A few months ago, I ventured on a tour with my oldest daughter, and I must say I was thoroughly impressed with the knowledgeable tour guide! Informative and interesting for children, teens, and adults! Want to hold a Tranchula? http://www.bugzoo.com
Mad Science provides a great science show for kids aged 5-12 years, and can come to your own home to do the show. The cost ranges between $160-$280 depending on the type of party for 12-20 guests. Check them out at: http://www.madscience.org/vancouverisland
The Puppet Booth offers a pretty neat birthday party option in the comfort of your own home, for children between the ages of 2-12. For $105 your party guests will enjoy an hour long program, hands on time, and kits for up to 20 children. It looks like there are a variety of different shows to choose from. The website even offers ideas on how to make your own puppets and it looks like the company will even do a puppet making workshop. Take a look at: http://www.puppetbooth.homestead.com
Cooking Parties @ Recreation Oak Bay seems like an awesome birthday party option for children between the ages of 5-12. Imagine that for $150, you can have up to 15 guests participate in creating their own tasty treats, and your home remains mess free. Yummy for the little chef in the making.
