Fierce Studio - Victoria
Fierce Studio cultivates good martial artists and yogis, but more importantly, great people. Their studio specializes in the martial art of Jui Jitzu. In addition, they offer various subsets of Jui Jitzu: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu, and Japanese Jujutsu. At Fierce, there are two curriculums for kid’s: Little Dragon’s (ages 5-7) and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (ages 8-13). The youth programs are based on a semester system, with Fall, Winter, or Autumn semesters that run for four months.

Sandalwood Martial Arts - Cadboro Bay
Offering classes for ages nine and older, Sandalwood Martial Arts is run by well-qualified instructors. All of their black belt tests are overseen by an international Taekwon-Do Grandmaster. Sandalwood Martial Arts offers great promotions such as a free month of training. In addition, there are no term contracts, no registration fees, no hidden fees, and no belt testing fees, which allows their students to focus on what matters—martial arts.

Victoria Renshikan (VR) Karate - Royal Oak
One of the largest and best known karate clubs in the region, VR Karate offers co-ed classes for ages 4 years old to adult (there oldest member is 72!) at five different locations throughout Greater Victoria. Their main dojo is located at Saanich Commonwealth Place, with a satellite clubs at Christ Church Cathedral School, the Crystal Pool, Oaklands Community Centre, and the Vic West Community Centre. What sets VR Karate apart is their positive, friendly, and fun learning environment. All students are welcome no matter where they're from or what their learning abilities are.

Ueshiba Aikido - Gordon Head
Aikido is a Japanese martial art, and it is unique in its peaceful and non-aggressive approach to its techniques based on etiquette and traditions from Japan’s historic past. Ueshiba Aikido offers classes for all ages and levels. Aikido classes for kids are held on Saturdays at the Cordon Head Recreation Centre in the Bert Richman Building.

ZUMA - Vic West
Zuma offers martial arts classes for kids, teenagers, and adults in styles such as boxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), grappling, wrestling, judo, and MMA. The owner and head instructor, Adam Zugec, is the only BJJ Black Belt on Vancouver Island. He is also an instructor in Combat Submission Wrestling and Muay Thai as well as having extensively trained the Canadian Joint Task Force. At Zuma, students receive world-class instruction in an first-class, friendly training environment.
Kids classes, or Little Bulldogs classes, are run by Sarah Kaufman. Kids will learn a variety of marital arts styles while building their confidence, discipline, and self-defence skills.

Victoria Professional Self Defence - Victoria
Victoria Professional Self Defence specializes in Kenpo, Muay Thai, Submission Wresting, Ju-Jitsu, and Tai Chi. What makes the studio stand out is that it provides family-oriented-style dojo, and offers a family rate in which all family members “train under one membership fee.” Memberships include private lessons!
Victoria Professional Self Defence hosts a Kid's Kenpo program for ages 6 to 12. Kids learn traditional martial arts training and character development.

Mijo Martial Arts is big on community. They're classes are held in community centres in Oak Bay, Esquimalt, and Sooke. Classes are open to kids, teens, and adults and are led by 5th Dan Taekwondo Masters and Exercise specialists with at least 25 years of experience. Kids classes are open to children as young as 3.
Mijo's classes are affordable. There are no contracts; registration only requires a commitment of 8 weeks. Best of all, before you register for a class, you can receive a two-class free trial!
