Hiking with your kids is an ideal and inexpensive way to get them out of the house and into nature.
Here are our top 6, in no specific order, focusing on some shorter, and easier ones that would be best for families with younger children:
See the spectacular 41-metre Tew Falls on the way to Dundas Peak, where you can get a full view of the valley. One of the busier trails, this is a great hike all, year round.
Over 10K of hiking trails with other activities available, including swimming, disc golf, fishing, and biking. There is also a bakery nearby for a post-hike treat.
Being paved the 4.3 KM hiking trail is comfortable to roller blade, bike, or take a stroller. I also connects to the Waterfront Trail. There's also no shortage of outdoor attractions with Wild Waterworks, the Lakeland Center and other amenities nearby.
The trail is scenic, paved, and paved and easy to follow. More of an urban hike, this is a good place to go year-round, with skate rentals available in the winter, and many festivals during the summer.
Look for the Sassafras Trail which leads to the aviary and Churchill Park playground. For the more ambitious hikers, there are quite a few other more difficult trails to follow.
This one might be a bit on the difficult side for young families, but we thought we would include it for the picture alone. Aside from the unique rock formations, a variety of birds can be seen in the vicinity.
