October Guide: Major Events & Fall Things To Do in Calgary

All you need to know for awesome family events this October! From Ghost Tours to Pumpkin Fests here are the best things to do this month.


Fall is in full swing! Something about the crisp air and the orange and red leaves makes me feel so cozy. There is lots to do in our city this month as well!

Here we highlight the major annual events, but you can also visit our full calendar of events for a snapshot of everything that's happening around Calgary.

Here's some of our favourite events and happenings in October:


1. Ghost Tours at Heritage Park

Visit Heritage Park for a guided ghost tour through the streets and alley ways of the Historical Village. Behind the Park’s old-fashioned charm lie stories of otherworldly encounters, spine-tingling history and some memorable manifestations! All tours depart from the lobby of Gasoline Alley Museum.

When: Wednesdays until October 16




2. Halloweekends at Calaway Park

Experience Halloweekends with the Boo Crew at Calaway Park! Take a stroll through Hallotown… if you dare! Is it scary? No, it’s friendly! It’s a spooktacular good time for the whole family! Dress up as your favorite family friendly character and enjoy tricks and treats and spooktacular rides!

When: October 5, 6, 12, and 14




3. Pumpkin Palooza

Walk through the pumpkin patch, take beautiful photos and pick your favourite pumpkins to buy for Halloween carving! They'll have princesses here for photos too! It's an event for the whole family that you won't want to miss!

Where: Cobb's Adventure Park & Corn Maze
When: Saturday's and Sunday's from October 5 - 27


4. Thanksgiving Weekend at Heritage Park

With the Park's Summer Season drawing to an end, this will be your last chance to enjoy the historical village attractions this year. Enjoy a delicious Thanksgiving meal and themed activities, pumpkin baking demonstrations, crafts and more!

When: October 12 - 14


5. Pumpkin Fest at Granary Road

Granary Road celebrates it's 3rd Annual Pumpkin Fest. Come pick out a pumpkin, decorate it, or save it to carve just in time for Halloween. Send off Granary Roads 2019 Active Learning Park season by joining in for lots of fun and activities.

6. Bricks 4 Kidz

Why let the kids have all the fun? Come learn, build, and play together at Bricks 4 Kidz' NEW all ages Family Night Out! Re-experience the draw of this time-tested educational toy as you complete traditional brick builds, motorized technic models, LEGO art mosaics, creative free play, and LEGO games/challenges.

7. Gouls' Night Out

Ghouls’ Night Out at Heritage Park is perfect for families with little ghouls, aged three to nine, who are looking for a fun, safe night out. Meet the Addams Family, enjoy a Villainous Vaudeville Show, trick or treat at Heritage Park, take a spooky stroll down the well decorated streets, and meet some of the ghoulish residents of the village

8. Pumpkin Jam

Bring the family out to carve your Halloween pumpkin then head off to the gym to play some games! This course is fun for the whole family.

When: October 25


9. Children's Halloween Spooktacular

Kick off your Halloween at the Tuscany Club with a safe and fun Halloween Party. Games, treats, crafts and more. Free to all Tuscany Residents!

Where: October 26
When: TRA Tuscany Club


10. Lil' Pumpkin Party

On October 26 and 27, Telus Spark is transforming the Creative Kids Museum into a spooky and whimsical forest. You're invited to participate in family activities and games, such as mini pumpkin decorating and spooky storytelling. Come dressed in your costume!
