Discover the best things to do with kids this September around Edmonton!

As the kiddos head back to school and as the days get shorter and the air crisper, there is certainly no end to all the fun going on around this city!

Here we highlight the major can't-miss events, but you can also visit our full calendar of events for a snapshot of everything that's happening around Edmonton.

1. Harvest Festival

There is so much to see and do at the Harvest Festival! Watch as they harvest their wheat crop using both steam and gasoline powered equipment, see threshing machines at work, watch swathing, combining, ploughing, binding and stooking demonstrations, view the modern and vintage John Deere equipment display from Martin Deerline, see tractor starting and driving demonstrations, play games in the ATCO Energy Education Mobile, take an Open Cockpit Biplane Adventure, ride the shuttle between the main building and the Aviation Display Hangar, and more!

2. Cupcake Classic 5k

Edmonton's SWEETEST fun run, The Cupcake Classic will take place on September 7th, 2019. This family oriented event will take participants on a route around Edmonton’s beautiful River Valley. This event is a 5km fun run/walk for all levels of fitness. A portion of the proceeds raised will go to Second Chance Animal Rescue Society Edmonton (SCARS)

3. Mutt Strutt 2019

It's the 4th Annual Mutt Strut 5K run for GEARS with the same great run (or walk!), with lots more fun! The race will begin and end at Hermitage Park Picnic Site 1 and all finishers will receive a medal!

4. Ward 2 Community Fun Day

Come check out Grand Trunk Field, behind Grand Trunk Rec Centre, for the Annual Ward 2 Fun Day! Come celebrate our wonderful community at this free family friendly event! There will be food, face painting and many other great activities.

5. Strathearn Art Walk 2019

The Strathearn Art Walk is a FREE, family-friendly art and music festival. This annual celebration of strives to bring out the best in our community by bringing people together to celebrate emerging and professional art and music in our beautiful river valley.

6. Spruce Grove Public Market

A family-friendly event within the heart of Spruce Grove's City Centre! Some awesome features include: Vendor Booths, Fresh Produce & Fruit, Food Trucks, Live Entertainment, Free Face Painting, Free Kids Activity, Free Inflatable Fun!

7. Kaleido Family Arts Festival

Kaleido Family Arts Festival is held on historic Alberta Avenue. For two and a half days every September, Alberta Avenue comes alive as an environment of creative exploration and performances on rooftops, sides of buildings, back alleys, parks, old spaces and new spaces.

Not only is it a wonder to behold, it is FREE!

8. VegFest Edmonton 2019

This year's event is even bigger and better than last! Sample some amazing food and even enjoy a vegan beer. Live music, great people, a new Veggie-Kid fun zone and so much more! With great shopping and tons to see, you won't want to miss it!

9. Edmonton Comic & Entertainment Festival

Each year, Edmonton Expo attracts tens of thousands of fans (and a few celebrity superstars!) for a 3-day celebration of all things fandom - from superhero blockbusters to vintage comic books and everything in between. This event is fun for all ages and all interests: sci-fi, fantasy, gaming, horror, comics, cosplay and more! Whatever you're a fan of, you'll find it at Edmonton Expo.

10. Zulu Kids Edmonton 

Zulu is an obstacle course event designed around military style obstacles with special "survivor surprises" along the way. It is an event that challenges your physical and mental abilities to overcome...All while having the greatest fun filled day with you "tribe".
