May Guide: The Best Things to Do This Month in Vancouver!

There is a ton of super fun activities to do here in Vancouver during the month of May! From outdoor festivals, to markets, and even the Circus, there is something everyone in your family will enjoy.

Check out this great list of what you can do with your kids this month in our beautiful city.

1. Port Coquitlam May Day Festival 

Mark your calendar for May 3 to 11, 2019, when Port Coquitlam celebrates its 96th annual May Days with nine days of free family activities, local culture, live entertainment and more.

The parade starts with a pre-show at 10:30 a.m. by the Vancouver Police Department motorcycle drill squad, followed by the main parade at 11 a.m. Early birds can also enjoy a pre-parade pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. in the Outlet at Leigh Square, with the $4 cost supporting the 4th PoCo Scouts.

2. Get Your Kicks!

Get Your Kicks this Spring with Tsawwassen Mills. Beginning April 26, cash in on deep store discounts at some of your favourite footwear and sporting apparel brands like Adidas, Nike, West49 and more. 3. BrickCan 2019

BrickCan - Western Canada's largest LEGO Exhibition-returns for year 4 to the River Rock in Richmond, with even more LEGO fun! This year, you can help build a giant LEGO mosaic creation! Choose your preferred viewing day and time - morning, mid-day, or afternoon, and plan to spend a few hours.

4. VEG EXPO 2019

VEG EXPO is a day for the entire family. Enjoy cooking demonstrations with local celebrated chefs, information on locally sourced foods and products, explore innovative sustainable transportation options on the market, take a break in their 'vegetation lounge', enjoy free samples and giveaways plus get inspired by a natural vegan body builder showcase.

5. Royal Canadian Family Circus Spectac!

6. Stars on Ice

Relive the amazing artistry, excitement and athletic triumph of Canada’s beloved Olympic Team Gold Medalists including Patrick Chan, Kaetlyn Osmond and Meagan Duhamel & Eric Radford; plus two-time Olympic Silver Medalist Elvis Stojko, Olympic Bronze Medalist Jeff Buttle, three-time World Medalists Kaitlyn Weaver & Andrew Poje and more!

7. Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair

The 131st Annual Country Fair features more family-friendly entertainment than ever before. The area’s largest Midway - Rides for daredevils and little buckaroos, Agri Zone - Lots of animals, including their babies, and 4H displays, Kids Zone - Cowboy & Cowgirl Training. Spectacular interactive Kids Zone to keep kids of all ages laughing, The Douglas Lake Equipment Zone - kids steer go-karts through a construction zone, Ribfest and much more!

8. Sunshine Coast - Boating, Crabbing, Whale Watching *60% Off

10. Admission by Donation at Vancouver Art Gallery

Every Tuesday evening you can experience the Vancouver Art Gallery and pay only what you can (by donation)! At the Vancouver Art Gallery you'll always see major exhibitions of works by the world's leading contemporary artists and history's greatest masters.

When: Every Tuesday evening from 5pm - 9pm

11. Ladner May Days

Established in 1896, Ladner May Days is a free family-friendly community fair that also features a baseball tournament and various carnival activities. It’s a medium-sized event and a good community-focused one.

The fair’s special feature on the Friday is usually discounted midway amusement rides for kids. On the Sunday there is the pancake breakfast followed by the Ladner May Days Parade, which is a “community-style” parade starting at noon.

12. 2019 Vancouver International Children's Festival

When the Vancouver International Children's Festival arrives, Granville Island comes to life! With six fantastic indoor theatre venues and a bustling arts activity village, the Festival site becomes your family's playground! From toddlers to tweens, we have shows and activities for everyone.

Catch some of the best of the Festival at their special evening performances, including the ultimate bedtime stories in their Pyjama Night series.
