Look no further for the best list of things to do during the month of March here in our beautiful city!

The snow has melted and lots of Victoria's classic hints of spring are popping up - from early cherry blossoms in Fernwood to the giant Easter display at Costco. There are also more local events happening in March and tons of great activities to do with your family. Check out our list... we hope you find some great options that everyone can enjoy!


1. Be a Tourist in Your Own Home Town

The hottest ticket in town! Gardens, Ice-Cream Shops, Miniature World, Whale Watching... Anything you and your kids dream of for free or a discounted price! Check out the website for a full list of offers here. It's a great way to see the sights on a budget.

2. Watch a Victoria Royals Game

Take the kids to watch our major junior ice hockey team and root for the local Victoria Royals! With pure entertainment from start to finish, you won't be disappointed with this night out.

3. Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea

This aquarium features over 20 live underwater exhibits and a touch pool area where you can tickle urchin and shake hands with sea stars! Their facility houses hundreds of marine creatures in a variety sizes, from micro plankton to a Giant Pacific Octopus. They engage visitors of all ages in an unparalleled 'hands on, hands wet' experience.

4. Lego Exhibition

The ever-popular LEGO exhibition has returned to Sidney Museum, featuring a wider range of themes including Star Wars, Minecraft, Friends, Harry Potter, Batman and vintage sets! Bring the whole family to spend the day in lovely Sidney, take in the Museum, grab a bite, walk along to the sea wall, visit the Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea and stop in a Buddies Toys for a new Lego purchase.

Guests will learn about the history of the many Lego models on display, a special opportunity to guess how many bricks comprise the giant Lego Tower as well as the opportunity to enjoy the special presentation film on the origin and development of the Lego building system.

5. Westshore Recreation Toonie Skate

Everyone welcome for drop-in at JDF Arena and pay just $2 to skate. Skate rentals are just $2 as well.

6. Community Workshops

Want to grow your own groceries but not sure where to even start? This is a workshop designed for total beginners who want to get their hands dirty and start producing fresh produce in their backyards or containers. Join Kayla from the Compost Education Centre for this interesting presentation. Attendance is free, but registration is required.

Where: Esquimalt Recreation Centre

8. Capital City Comic Con

Capital City Comic Con is a three-day celebration in Victoria, B.C. of all things pop culture! No matter if you love anime/manga, toys, gaming, cosplay, fantasy, sci-fi, comics, TV, movies or anything in between, they have something for everyone. With celebrity guests, creators, artists panels, workshops and hundreds of exhibitors it’s perfect for pop culture superfans and families alike.

9. Visit the Flamingos and Butterfly's

Victoria Butterfly Gardens offers a unique opportunity for people of all ages to experience the beauty and curiosity of a tropical jungle up close. It's also a nice break from the cold weather! With surprises at every turn, you’ll encounter poison dart frogs, tortoises, large iguanas, flamingos, tropical ducks, free flying tropical birds and more. Thousands of tropical butterflies (up to 70 species) fly through their large facilities the size of almost 3 basketball courts. Your jungle adventure awaits.
