The Best Parks and Playgrounds in Dallas

Spending a bright sunny day out with kids at a park or playground in Dallas sounds like a great idea for enjoying a fun family picnic day. Here are our top 10 favorite spots in Dallas where you can take your kids.

Whether your kids want to dig in the sand, climb a rock wall, feed the ducks, or simply head down the slide, there's a park or playground for them in Dallas. Here's our list of the best Dallas parks and playgrounds to explore with kids at little to no cost.

Get outside and play!

Peter Pan Park

 Opens daily from 8AM to 9PM

Peter Pan Park is small in size but it is very pretty and good for little kids. The park is surrounded by trees and tons of vegetation. Kids will love the train and the swings. There is also a trail that leads down to the stream, which is a perfect for a stroll or dog walk. Park amenities include benched, picnic tables and playgrounds.

Oak Lawn Park

Hours: Open 24 hours daily

There really is nothing more beautiful than sprawling green grass and seeing your children happily run around. Oak Lawn Park the perfect place for activity and is completely open to the public. This is a great spot to take a break, have a picnic, and feel close to nature. The park features benches, drinking fountain, lake and trails.

Coffee Park

Location: 3400 Nothwest Parkway, Dallas
Hours: Open 24 hours daily

This small neighborhood green space offers baseball, soccer & picnic facilities, plus a play area. We love this place because it has a rubber ground which is especially good for toddlers. There is also a little sidewalk for bikes and scooters ride on. The park was renovated in 2009 and the improvements include a trail system, picnic facilities, athletic field improvements, decorative fencing and a barrier-free playground to provide fun for children of all ages and abilities.

Lakewood Park

Location: 7143 Williamson Rd, Dallas
Hours: Opens daily 5AM–11PM

The park has a handful of great playgrounds, one for smaller kids, one for older. There are two sets of swings (one with the baby seats), wood chips for ground cover, a covered picnic area, and benches throughout the park. There is also a baseball field, tennis court and drinking fountain. For an added bonus there is also beautiful view, walking path nearby, and a cute bridge going over the creek. Your kids will love this park and have lots of fun spending some family time outdoor. 

Glencoe Park

Hours: Opens daily from 5AM to 11PM

Glencoe Park is a perfect family-friendly spot to hang out on a summer afternoon. There's lots of space to do play sports and run around. The playground at the park is always a hit with children with provides some shade for warmer days. There are picnic tables, drinking fountain and walking tracks. There's also a grassy area for soccer or football, rugby & softball fields & a decent tennis court. 

Exall Park

Hours: Opens daily from 5AM to 11PM

Exall Park is a great place to run, have a picnic with friends, or to just lay out in the sun. The field in the center of the park allows for group sports. The park also features basketball court, softball field, trails and a children's playground that is sure to keep your little ones busy.

White Rock Lake Park

Hours: Opens daily 5AM–11PM

White Rock Lake Park is truly one of the prettiest and most heavily used parks parks in Dallas. Its a great place to experience natural areas and wildlife and is an excellent spot for running, hiking, birdwatching and spending some quality time with your family. There are always plenty of places to explore and the bike path is a quick way of checking out both the lake and the park.

Family can rent kayaks, walk the dog, fly drones, or rollerblade. Best of all the park is free.

Trinity River Audubon Center

Location: 6500 Great Trinity Forest Way, Dallas
Hours: Opens 9AM to 4PM

The Trinity River Audubon Center is a nature center and the central structure in the Great Trinity Forest and is located just southeast of Downtown. This is a great place to bring the kids to learn about wildlife at its Children’s Discovery Garden, also its a great spots to go bird-watching.

The Center features five miles of nature viewing trails, a butterfly garden, outdoor picnic areas and an indoor event center.

Burleson Park

Location: 3000 University Blvd, Dallas

Burleson Park is one of our favorite parks to take the family to. With plenty of open space, a basketball court, and two tennis courts there is always space to play sports. A playground designed for children under 12 is footsteps away from the court sites. The playground even has a squishy, rubber surface that helps soften a fall. There are also a trail for walking / jogging.
