Got a energetic little one? Let them run off some of that energy at these parks and playgrounds. Here are our favorites in Omaha!


Playgrounds and parks are essential when you have kids. It is a great way for them to socialize with other children and get some of the extra energy out. Here are our top recommended kid and toddler playgrounds and parks in Omaha. Enjoy!


Walnut Grove Park

Opens Daily from 5AM–8PM
Walnut Grove Park is a beautiful wooded park with rolling hills and pathways for biking, walking or running. The park has a nice playground area for kids; covered pavilion, picnic tables and benches available. The park also has a small lake for catch and release fishing.


Cottonwood Park

Opens Daily from 5AM to 11PM
Cottonwood Park is great playground with fun equipment for kids young and old. There are several smaller covered tables along with a larger pavilion for parties and large gatherings. The sand is very fine, which your kids will surely enjoy. Cottonwood Park also has a volleyball court, picnic shelter and tennis courts.


Benson Park

Benson Park is located at 7028 Military Avenue in the Benson neighborhood of Omaha, Nebraska. The 217-acre park includes an ice rink, a lake and pavilion, as well as a scenic picnic area. The park has even has a really nice water spray park! Plus there is a beautiful pond with wildlife, such as ducks, geese, fish, tadpoles,  and frogs. If you are looking for a good place to BBQ this park has plenty of picnic table areas spread around with charcoal grills.


Meadow Lane Park

Opens Daily from 5AM to 11PM
Meadow Lane Park is a large community park near 115th and Farnam Streets that provides plenty of open green space and colorful trees. There are 2 public tennis courts available at this park. Overall, we think Meadow Lane Park is a quiet park with a good playground and sand for kids. It is also away from road so its a great place to take a relaxing walk over lunch.


Heartland of America Park

The park is open daily from 5AM to 11PM
Heartland of America Park is family friendly park that is best visited during the day or evening too see its incredible fountain in action! Our favorite time to go is the evening because there is a light show that goes along with it. Also we recommend trying the gondola ride around the lake. Overall this park is gorgeous and looks truly amazing in the winter when all the lights are lit up! There are great walking/jogging trails and even slides there for young and old alike!


Maple Village Park

The park is open daily from 5AM to 11PM
Maple Village Park has a great playground for kids from preschool age to middle school - as there is plenty of room to run around, pay Frisbee, etc. The park includes two slides, and a pair of swing sets to accommodate both older and younger children, as well as modem picnic tables. This is mostly a quiet park area tucked away in the neighborhood so it is a good place to take a nice long walk around the golf course.


Roberts Park

The park is open daily from 7AM to 10PM
Roberts Park is located on 20 acres of land at 730 N 78th St in West Omaha. The park provides a ball field, trails, 2 tennis courts, a playground, and a popular skate park. The north section of the Keystone Trail runs along the west edge of the park. This is also where the first skate park in a City of Omaha public park is located. Both skateboarders and in-line skaters are welcome.
