The Best Playgrounds and Parks in Nashville

Let your kids experience the great outdoors by exploring the best playgrounds and parks on Nashville.

Taking your kids out to your local playground is also a good opportunity to bond and spend more time with them. Here are a few of our favorite playgrounds and parks to bring your kids to in Nashville. 

Cumberland Park

Your family will have a ton of fun at Cumberland Park. This unique park is located in downtown Nashville and has walkable trails, a cool splash pad and a great playground. It is an innovative play space for children and families alike. The unique design incorporates the play structures and water features to create an exciting new attraction along Nashville's riverfront.

Fannie Mae Dees Park

Fannie Mae Dees Park, a popular park for Nashville families, is better known today as the “Dragon Park” for the large mosaic sculpture that sits at its center. This is one of the area's most kid-friendly play spots.

The park features a variety of play areas geared toward different age groups. There are swings, slides, see saws, tunnels and more! 

Shelby Park Community Center

Shelby Park seriously has it all, nature center, ball fields, walking and cycling trails, river views, wooded paths, a super cool rustic yet trail, trestle and a golf course. 

There is also a small but beautiful lake in Nashville Shelby Park that you can picnic around and feed the ducks. Shelby Park Picnic pavilions can also be reserve for events. There are also play areas and jungle gyms to keep the kids entertained. 

Woodmont Park

This park is great for kids or just to hang out. Woodmont Park includes a tennis court, basketball court, a playground, and picnic tables. They have flat area to run in, two playgrounds that are good for kids of all ages and sandbox. 

Centennial Park

Centennial Park is a nice park with lots of statues sprinkled around. These statues are very meaningful and historic and make this park almost a memorial. The park is gorgeous with colorful gardens filled with red and yellow tulips. The kids will also love the cute bridges and swings scattered around the place. It is a very open park and is the perfect green space for a variety of uses. The park is great for walkers and joggers as well as those who just want an open space to fly a kite or sail a Frisbee. 

Shelby Bottoms Nature Center

Shelby Bottoms Nature Center is a great place for people in the city to go for a walk or biking. The Center has a lovely lake and great walking trails. There is also a bike rental station, tennis courts, dog park,  picnic pavilions, a playground and baseball fields. 

Warner Parks

The kids will really love the nature play area of this park! Basically it is a ton of dirt, mud and tools to play in. There are also trucks, scoops and buckets for the kids to use. 

The park has a beautiful greenway, nature center and multiple hiking trails located right off of Hwy 100 in Bellevue. Whether you come to do a trail run, a hike, cycling, a family photo shoot or a playdate with your dog this is the place to be. 

Radnor Lake State Park

Radnor is a wonderful place to hike and take in wildlife sightings. The carefully preserved sanctuary boasts a beautiful lake, aviary, and pristine trails, the park is good for kids and adults. The park is day-use only and the more than six miles of trail are strictly used for hiking, photography and wildlife observation. Pets, jogging and bicycles are only allowed on the Otter Creek Road trail.
