When the weather warms up there is no better place in Toronto to take your kids than somewhere they can run and splash until their hearts content. Check out our list of the absolute coolest splash pads and wading pools, most of them FREE!

It's that time of the year when we get to splash around in cool water for some sweet relief. There is no better way to do this than taking your kids for a dip in the best splash pads in the city. 

Luckily for you, the city of Toronto is well endowed with several water features and pads where you can cool off and have some fun.

Here are some incredible spots you should check out.

 

1. Corktown Common Splash Pad

This little gem located at the foot Bayview Avenue is the ultimate location for a family getaway. Its landscape was designed with an innovative set of trails wetlands and splash pads. The kids will have a variety of games to play in the cool playground available as well as have fun at the splash pad.

The park also contains a sheltered pavilion that will shield parents as they watch their children play. There are washrooms available on the premises.

2. Centre Island Splash Pad

Hop on the ferry to one of the best family day trips in the city! This park is one exceptional place ideal for the whole family; it has gorgeous green spaces, playgrounds, beaches and a beautiful view of the city. That is not all; the young kids will also enjoy the free amusement parks! This location is also ideal for a family picnic as the children have fun at the little splash pad and playground.

3. Kidstown Water Park

It is one place you can't afford to miss if you are around Scarborough, the park is entirely run by the city and therefore is free for all. It stands out because of its giant splash pad areas, slides, a wading pool and a beautiful picnic area. Your kids will definitely love this incredible location. You can even book separate areas for birthday parties or groups.

4. Regent Park Splash Pad

The six-acre park downtown is the place to be this summer; the kids will enjoy the state of the art, Aquatic Centre, arts and culture facilities, a community Centre as well as a playground. Furthermore, their splash pads are artistically designed into the ground to give the little ones a feeling of running through the fountains, how exciting! You can't afford to miss out on this.

5. The Toronto Zoo

Imagine being sprayed by a whale, seal or a frog! This is only possible at Splash islands in Toronto zoo. The splash area is about two acres in size and contains tipping buckets, waterfalls and slip down slides. Its design is one of its kind. Despite the fact that it is not entirely free, it is worth trying it with your family.

6. Dufferin Grove Park Wading Pool



Dufferin Park is a great option for the younger kids, they will enjoy the spacious wading pools surrounded by a layer of beautiful trees further protecting the fun-seekers from the scorching sun. It's also equipped with a large playground complete with a vast sandpit great for the explorative minds of the young ones! If you are lucky to visit during the weekly farmers' market, you will enjoy great deals and fresh produce.

7. Little Norway Park (Toronto)

Located in Bathurst Street and Queens Quay, the park offers a kids unique playground and a wading pool where children can cool themselves off. You can also pass off the afternoon walking along the scenic paths through the park's gardens.

8. High Park Splash Pad

 

This fun splash pad has tall spray structures resembling something out of a Dr. Suess book! A wonderfully fun place for kids of all ages, plus you are in High Park! Take advantage of your surroundings and enjoy adventure, nature trails, swimming and other playground facilities. High Park spans 161 hectares, and is a mixed recreational and natural park, with sporting facilities, cultural facilities, educational facilities, gardens, playgrounds and a zoo.

9. Marie Curtis Park

Located on the western side of Etobicoke. The park boasts of bright, clean and large splash pads making it ideal for the whole family. Aside from the splash areas, the park has several walking trails and picnic sites and a terrific playground. If your family would love an encounter with the wildlife, then this is the spot for you.

10. Oriole Park

Its location right in the heart of the city and near walking and cycling trail makes it accessible for most people. The oriole park's facilities include baseball and tennis courts, sandpit and a playground but the most outstanding feature is a junior splash and wading pool for the young ones.

11. Glendora park

The park located at the foot of Willowdale Avenue boasts of a spacious playground and a splash pad for the little ones. Something that is unique to the park is the cycling and walking paths that will connect you to other nearby parks. It is indeed an excellent place for a summer afternoon fun with the kids.
