In lieu of the Oscars, and the red carpet dazzle I thought I’d take this opportunity to interview David from Victoria’s best film acting studio, Screen Actors Studio! They offer great kids acting classes in Victoria, BC for your little star!
Question 1: Hi David, please tell us a bit about Screen Actors Studio.
Screen Actors Studio offers a series of courses from the entry absolute beginner level through the intermediate stages and continuing studies skills for the advanced working actor. As an established Victoria film school, we look to encourage and invite other members of the film and television industry to hold special event seminars and weekend workshops that are dynamic and educational for those seeking work in the creative fields of the professional video, film and television industry and it’s independent horizons.
Question 2: Wow sounds great! Can you please tell us a little bit about the film industry in Victoria/Vancouver; are there many opportunities for young actors?
The business of acting and how the industry works is a subject area that the studio feels parents and young actors should understand. And preparing for opportunities is something our instructors, who are working actors, do provide.
Question 3: What types of programs do you offer?
Our programs begin with Early Starters Ages 8 – 11 and move into programs for teens. Beginners and advanced level programs are also offered!
Question 4: Do you have any special programs/camps for Spring Break?
Yes, we have two camps! Camp ONE which is held March 11 – 14 for children aged 8 – 12 and Camp TWO, held March 18 – 21 for children aged 12 – 16.
Question 5: Excellent! Do you offer private instruction as well?
Yes we do. Prior to the session we will work together to determine the subject matter; It may be the preparation for an audition or an in-depth focus on essential techniques. Videotaping and playback can be used throughout the session. The cost is $50 per session.
Question 6: What do you think kids love most about Screen Actors Studio?
It’s a friendly, encouraging, safe atmosphere and the instructors work to bring out the best in each of the children and teens.
Question 7: What is the most rewarding part of bringing out the creative side of kids?
Sharing with them the progress they are making via taping and playback.
