The final weekend of summer vacation is near! Before the kids head back to school, try to soak in some family time and head to some of these fantastic events.
Alright Edmontonians, here's your top 8 Labour Day weekend events in Edmonton for families:
Sir Winston Churchill SquareSaturday August 30th at 8pm
Bring the whole family to enjoy the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra for their special performance, Disney in Concert. The FREE concert will feature a cast of four vocalists for a very special concert of Disney’s most famous movie scores ever – Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins, Aladdin, The Lion King and the Oscar®-winning song "Let It Go" from Disney’s latest hit movie Frozen. Clips from the movies and storyboard art will be displayed on-screen. Be sure to get dressed as your favourite Disney character!
William Hawrelak ParkFriday- Sunday August 29th-31st from 10am- 7pmMonday September 1st from 10am- 4pm
Kid Zone, sponsored by TransCanada Corp, will offer a variety of fun activities for kids ages 5-13 like themed crafts, activity booklets, mini triathlon race, face painting, bouncy castles, and more! The theme of the Kids Zone is living a healthy and active lifestyle. Please note that adult supervision is required!
Gilmore ParkSunday August 31st from 12pm- 5pm
The popular Bobs & Lolo as seen on TreeHouse TV will be the entertainment at this fun family event! Pathway Party celebrates Phase 2 construction being complete at Gilmore Park, and there will be free activities for kids, food and drink available, bike decorating, and a bike parade!
Whitemud Equine CentreSaturday August 30th at 5pm & Sunday August 31st at Noon
WELCA will be presenting the world famous RCMP Musical Ride at the show grounds this weekend. A colourful tradition and ceremony, this gives Canadians the opportunity to experience part of our heritage and national identity. Dressed in their scarlet uniforms and on horse, RCMP officers perform various formations alongside music. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time to avoid missing out.
Fort Edmonton ParkSaturday August 30th - Monday September 1st from 10am- 6pm
It's harvest time! Celebrate Edmonton's rich agriculture like the old days and experience food through the ages at Fort Edmonton Park's Harvest Fair. You'll also get the chance to learn heritage skills like weaving, quilting, wood carving, trapping, baking, and play some good old-fashioned games, square dancing, listening to live fold music, and more!

The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra’s Symphony Under the Sky brings the summer festival season to a close. Come enjoy the idyllic surroundings of Edmonton’s river valley and the sounds of your ESO in Hawrelak Park’s Heritage Amphitheatre. They're having a busy weekend!
Prairie GardensSaturday August 30th- Monday September 1st from 9am- 6pm
Come celebrate the “season of corn” at Corn Fest over the Labour Day Weekend! This corn festival is a family event with a cornucopia of corny activities including corn eating contests, corn mazes, face painting, corny jokes, veggie art and more. The festival features the Minotaur and Mindbender Kids Corn Mazes, folk music, and hands-on corn doll craft activities for children.
Fort SaskatchewanMonday September 1st at 11:30am
One sure sign that summer is coming to an end is the departure of the sheep that call Fort Saskatchewan home each summer. Everyone is invited to join in the annual Sheep Leaving Parade where the sheep will make their traditional walk from Legacy Park through downtown and ending up at the Fort Saskatchewan Museum & Historic Site. It is the final farewell to the sheep until next spring!

Visit Edmonton’s original corn maze where our huge, mind-bending corn maze will keep you guessing! Each year we unveil a new and exciting maze design and look forward to getting thousands of visitors lost. Also at the maze! A massive jumping pillow (both an exciting and bouncy addition to your visit), a farm yard with various activities and friendly goats, sheep, pigs, chickens and calf ready to interact with visitors.
Marine Life at West Edmonton MallEvery Day from 11am- 6pm
Step on down to Sea Life Caverns, an underground aquarium home to more than 100 species of colourful fish, sharks, reptiles, sea turtles, amphibians, penguins, and more. Get up close and personal with these amazing creatures through interactive exhibits and daily live presentations.
