Mother’s Day is not that far away – May 12th for the naughty kids who can’t remember. There are lots of Mother’s Day events in Victoria but I know from experience, that often good food and a family conversation is a far more tantalizing an offer than the usual Mother’s Day events.
If your mom thinks similarly, there are a lot of restaurants offering Mother’s Day brunch in Victoria and area. Again from experience, it’s very different choosing a restaurant to dine in with adults than it is to dine in with your kids. Often those that are family friendly don’t quite work for you, whereas others that might be considered ‘strictly for grown ups’ work perfectly.
At the end of the day, a family friendly restaurant can depend on the behaviour of your children… let’s just say our family don’t get out much!
Here are our top picks for Mother’s Day brunch in Victoria.
$35 adults, $17 children 6 – 10 years and 25% off for seniors. Reservations are strongly recommended.
On The Menu: crab bennies, vanilla coconut French toast and a whole host of delicious choices.
Never feel like you are the only family that has to escort kids for outdoor breaks during family meals in restaurtants – we all do it. The Laurel Point Inn is particularly good for this as it is right on the harbour so the kids can spy boats, planes and other goodies while they have a little run around
Adults — $30.95 Seniors —$25.95 Children Under 12 — $15.95
Reservations are recommended.
On The Menu: this award-winning West Coast Buffet includes fresh seafood, dozens of desserts to keep the young and old happy and lots of coffee for you… the parents that need it.
Again, like the Laurel Point Inn, the Marina is well situated for some outside time for unruly kids… take a walk down to look at the boats, pop into the shop next door or walk along the seafront.
Zambri’s is an example of an adult restaurant which you may not necessarily think of child friendly but after many recommendations, including this review from Victoriamom.ca, it should definitely be on your radar for Mother’s Day brunch in Victoria.
On The Menu: the food is typically Italian, so if you fancy something a little different, this is the place for you. Fiorentina, meatballs and eggs, panettone and Zambri’s housemade sausage are just a sample of the menu that is on offer from 10:30am – 2:30pm.
Cabin 12 is very family friendly. In fact, local moms group Momstown Victoria were there recently with many of their bairns and had a whale of a time, so if a group of moms can go and have a stress free date, then this place will be perfect for Mother’s Day brunch in Victoria.
Definitely more casual that some options, Cabin 12 is at the lower end of the expense spectrum, but the food is still fantastic and they are particularly family focused.
On The Menu: traditional breakfasts, bennies and hot coffee. No reservations are taken for breakfast, but if you have a big group, call ahead and let them know.
A lot of my parent friends like to go to Floyds because it’s loud and full of fun, so you don’t feel out of place with a noisy child!
Popular with the hangover crowd and singletons, this is casual dining at its best. No frills, no fuss, just a great menu and family friendly servers.
On The Menu: home of The Mahoney – just ask!
Combine a Mother’s Day brunch with a trip to the beach. Just minutes away from Willows beach is The Village, a restaurant devoted to sourcing the finest ingredients for their unusual menu. Here, with a focus on Jewish cuisine, you will find delicious dishes you won’t see on any other local table.
On The Menu: from latke potato cakes to challah French toast and smokes meat bennies, The Village is my personal favourite brunch stop.
Just two things to be aware of: Buddies Toys is over the street, so keep your wallet in your pocket and The Village is popular so there if often a wait.
