Kids Ignoring Your Calls? There's An App For That

Published Aug 18, 2014 | Updated Oct 28, 2019

The new app, Ignore No More, has the ability to lock your child's phone giving them only two options: call you back or call 911. No more kids ignoring your calls and text messages, there's an app for that.

Ignore No More

Just when you think there's an app for everything, here comes another game changer! Sharon Standifird, a Texas Mom was fed up with unanswered phone calls and text messages to her son, as many parents can relate. She came up with the idea to invent an app that forced children to reply to their parents and open up the line of communication, and after plenty of research, Ignore No More was born.

How does it work?

The app must be installed on all phones, and is $1.99 from Google Play (currently only available on Android, but an Apple version is said to be released shortly).

The account is set up as 'My Household' and you are able to add any number of 'Parents' (or anyone who is able to control the other devices) and 'Children' (or anyone who is to be controlled by a parent device).

If a child is not answering phone calls or replying to text messages, the parent can simply lock the child's device. This will disallow them from accessing any part of their smartphone (camera, internet, applications, games, text messaging, and all those other things they love) except for a contact list of the parent devices. They must call a parent device in order to get an unlock code.

Don't worry- they're also able to call 911 if they were to get into an emergency!

Can't my child simply uninstall the app?

This is the beauty of it... No! To uninstall the app, the parent sets a username and password.

Even better, if they try to get sneaky and deactivate your administrator role through their app settings, their phone will immediately lock and you will be notified "WARNING CHILD TAMPERING WITH IGNORE NO MORE"!

I know what else you're thinking, and even if your child tries to turn off their phone, puts it on airplane mode, or anything along these lines, the app will automatically turn back on as soon as the device is back up and running. Brilliant!

This app is sure creating a buzz! Will you be downloading this for your family, or do you think it's too much parental control? Should we be using this during school hours and at other times where kids should be off their phones?

Sharon, app creator, said her son has sure been replying a lot faster since Ignore No More! What did he have to say about it? Surprisingly, he thought it was a "cool idea".

What happens if their data is turned off or they go into airplane mode. My kids do that all the time to control their data usage.
