With Halloween and Thanksgiving behind us, we are in a quick slide towards the festive Christmas season, and as the temperature has been dropping many might be wondering when the Victoria Christmas Parades will be starting. We’ve compiled a list for you of local parades you will want to be sure to take in this holiday season. Get ready to pull out your warm jackets, toques, and mittens. Steam up that hot chocolate and prepare to be dazzled — do not miss these fabulous Victoria Christmas Parades!

Island Farm’s Santa’s Claus Parade

Where: Government St. (from Belleville to Chatham St.) Victoria, BC

When: Saturday November 28, 2015 from 5:45 – 7 pm

What: Be sure to schedule this parade into your calendar, as the festive dazzling lights and floats are sure to ignite the holiday spirit in adults and children alike. The floats are scheduled to travel through the delightfully lit up Government St. from Victoria’s inner harbour to Chatham St. Be sure to make your way to the Capital Iron parking lot after taking in the festivities to warm up with delicious (and free) treats, courtesy of Island Farms.

For those of you downtown on parade day looking for something to do before taking in the sights of the parade, between 4 – 5:30 pm the Annual Centennial Square Christmas Tree Light-up will be taking place in Centennial Square. You will be able to enjoy not only the lighting of the landmark sequoia tree, but musical performances, free treats, and the DVBA ferris wheel ($2).  This is sure to be a fun time you’ll want to take in before the Victoria Christmas Parades!

Lighted Truck Parade

Where: Trucks leave parking lot at Ogden Point at 5:45 to arrive at Oak Bay Village by 6:30 pm. At 7 pm the trucks are scheduled to arrive at Yates & Douglas St., up to Blanshard St. (NEW THIS YEAR- will take Blanshard out of downtown) and by 7:30 pm the trucks should be arriving at Helmcken and the Trans Canada Overpass. Between 8:15 and 8:30 pm the trucks should arrive at Western Speedway where Santa arrives by truck.

When: Saturday December 5, 2015 at 5:45pm- 8:30pm

What: This particular festive Victoria Christmas Parade is a favourite among the children! Trucks upon trucks lit up with thousands of bulbs can be seen traveling through the streets of Victoria all heading towards their final destination at the Western Speedway. Their pass by Government St. sets off the parade of lighted ships in the inner harbour as well, which brings lovers of land and see vehicles together! All are welcome to join in the festivities at the Western Speedway following the parade with either cash admission or the donation of a non-perishable food item. Hot dogs, coffee, and hot chocolate will all be available by donation.

In past years, non-perishable food and cash donations have been collected at Ogden Point, the Downtown Victoria Business Association at the Bay Centre (Douglas & Government St.), the Oak Bay Business Improvement Association, and the Oak Bay Public Works Department in Oak Bay Village. Past donations have been collected by the Mustard seed and donated out to the Mustard Seed Food Bank, West Shore Christmas Hamper Fund Society, Senior’s Christmas Hamper Society, and the Sidney Lions Food Bank.

This is one Victoria Christmas Parade you don’t want to miss!
