Looking for fun activities for your kids while you’re at work over the holidays or just need a day to get ready for or recover from the hectic holiday season? No worries! There are loads of great programs and winter holiday camps being offered by local Recreation Centers, Libraries, and Activity providers in the Bay Area this Holiday season. Various different YMCA’s around San Francisco are offering day camps for kids, but this one stands out. During the weeks of winter break from school (Dec. 26/27/28; Jan 2/3/4), your camper will explore the outdoors, build self esteem, develop interpersonal skills and make lasting friendships and memories. Days will consist of local field trips, arts & crafts, swimming, group games and sports. Extended care is available at no additional cost from 8:00am – 9:00am and 4:30pm -5:30pm. Kids in Kindergarten through 6th grade are invited to join in on all the fun at Brisbane Community Center’s Winter Camps. Field trips, ice skating, games, bowling, pump it up, arts and crafts, and good friends make the camp a must-do for kids! Offered various dates through December 20th- January 4th.
Have an eager little skater? San Francisco Parks and Rec Center is putting on a learn to skateboard camp- for new skaters or to help enhance your kid’s skills. Learn tricks, ride ramps and skate through obstacles. Don’t forget your skateboard, helmet, elbow and knee pads! Location: WestSunset Playground
Marina’s Sewing School, located in Burlingame has been teaching girls to sew and create fashions of their own design for over 12 years. Her school isn’t project focused, it’s sewing and design skill focused. Girls grow their skills and go beyond using a pattern. That’s right, they learn how to make a pattern work for their design and creativity! Join Marina for a one day Sewing Camp this winter break, priced at $125, which includes lunch. Perfect for your little creative girl or boy.
Don’t get left out in the cold this winter. Join the VIBE Youth Center staff for their outrageously fun Wild N’ Wacky Winter. This is your kid’s time to reunite with their summer camp buddies and their favorite leaders, while having a blast during their winter break. Their camp staff will pack your child’s vacation with tons of fun things to do. Campers should pack a sack lunch and water bottle daily. January 2nd-4th
Your kids will have a great holiday adventure with professional and fun loving staff from the Beresford Recreation Center in San Mateo. They will be providing a week of great games, sports, crafts, music, cooking and trips. (Dec. 26-28; Jan 2-4)
Starting Arts is a California nonprofit organization whose mission is the promotion and preservation of quality arts education in public schools. This year they are putting on a “New Year Camp” in their studios January 2-4 where kids will explore all 4 arts disciplines each day! Kids will get to participate in visual art, dance, music, and theatre every day… a great way to kick off 2013!
In this amazing, fun, creative, nutritional and educational winter camp, your child will make many holiday dishes including appetizers, main dishes, desserts, and our own edible masterpiece, a Gingerbread House! They will learn to put together holiday menus, make, read, and follow recipes, learn many different techniques in cooking, baking, holiday table setting, food decorating and presentation, and holiday dishes from all over the world. Cookie bakeoffs, warm baked healthy breads, hot soups, and yummy treats are all part of our one of a kind cooking camp! Great for kids aged 6-12. Location: San Carlos Youth Center
Pony on the xmas list but just not realistic? No worries! Vist the Chaparral Ranch to learn all about horses and how to ride. The camp includes at least one hour of riding each day. A fun hands on 3-day camp for children and adults.
