Looking for fun activities for your kids while you’re at work over the holidays or just need a day to get ready for or recover from the hectic holiday season? No worries! There are loads of great programs and winter holiday camps being offered by local Recreation Centers, Libraries, and Activity providers in the Bay Area this Holiday season.
I have described a couple of my top picks below, but for a complete listing of winter camps click the following regional links:
WINTER CAMPS in your city:
San Francisco Winter Holiday Camps:
Various different YMCA’s around San Francisco are offering day camps for kids, but this one stands out. During the weeks of winter break from school, your camper will explore the outdoors, build self esteem, develop interpersonal skills and make lasting friendships and memories. Days will consist of local field trips, arts & crafts, swimming, group games and sports. Extended care is available at no additional cost.
Kids in Kindergarten through 6th grade are invited to join in on all the fun at Brisbane Community Center’s Winter Camps. Field trips, ice skating, games, bowling, pump it up, arts and crafts, and good friends make the camp a must-do for kids!
SF Peninsula Camps:
Don’t get left out in the cold this winter. Join the VIBE Youth Center staff for their outrageously fun Wild N’ Wacky Winter. This is your kid’s time to reunite with their summer camp buddies and their favorite leaders, while having a blast during their winter break. Their camp staff will pack your child’s vacation with tons of fun things to do. Campers should pack a sack lunch and a water bottle daily.
Your kids will have a great holiday adventure with professional and fun loving staff from the Beresford Recreation Center in San Mateo. They will be providing a week of great games, sports, crafts, music, cooking and trips.
South Bay Camps
In this amazing, fun, creative, nutritional and educational winter camp, your child will make many holiday dishes including appetizers, main dishes, desserts, and our own edible masterpiece, a Gingerbread House! They will learn to put together holiday menus, make, read, and follow recipes, learn many different techniques in cooking, baking, holiday table setting, food decorating and presentation, and holiday dishes from all over the world. Cookie bake-offs, warm baked healthy breads, hot soups, and yummy treats are all part of our one of a kind cooking camp! Great for kids aged 6-12. Location: San Carlos Youth Center.
Pony on the xmas list but just not realistic? No worries! Visit the Chaparral Ranch to learn all about horses and how to ride. The camp includes at least one hour of riding each day. A fun hands on 3-day camp for children and adults.
