Any parent with a young child knows that having a list of go-to local playgrounds is a must. Playgrounds are always a great free way of getting your kids outside, and tiring them out. ;) Here is a list of the best playgrounds in and around Halifax.
150 Waterfront Dr, Bedford, NS B4A 4J4
There are many reasons why DeWolf Park would make the top of our list! Not only is the playground huge, but it has padded flooring to cushion your kid when they fall, sweet slides, and tons of things to climb on. The view from the playground is also amazing (we love checking out all of the boats) and there is a fantastic set of paths nearby that your are your family can take to check out the water.
Overall, this parks gets a 5/5.
3460 Isleville St, Halifax, NS
Another one of our favourite playgrounds in Halifax is the Isleville Playground. This spot is great because not only is the playground awesome, but there is also a small splash pad with sprayers to help your kids cool off in the summer in addition to a sandbox and plenty of grass park area to start a game of soccer or baseball on.
The playground is fenced in all the way around for added security.
Sir Sandford Fleming Park and Playground
Dingle Rd, Halifax, NS B3P
Although the actual playground at Sir Sandford Fleming Park isn’t that amazing the surrounding ample green space and extensive walking trails and water access make up for it.
We would recommend going here if your family is interested in experiencing a beautiful park, not just having fun on a playground.
DJ Butler Playground
99 Flamingo Drive, Halifax, Nova Scotia
This playground really offers everything your kids need to keep entertained. There are tons of swings, slides, and open areas to start up a pick up game. Kids also love the little climbing area and the bouncing bumble bee.
Other positive features include padded ground around certain parts of the playground for additional production and a walking path around the playgrounds.
6700 Edward Arab Ave, Halifax, NS B3L
Nothing beats the Westmount Playground and its foam floors and ramps. The playground is also handicap accessible and has sprinklers in the summertime that turn on to keep the kids cool.
The Westmount Playground is a real winner. We love the slides, swings, monkey bars, and baby swings. This place is a guaranteed good spot.
Ferry Terminal Park
88 Alderney Dr, Dartmouth, NS B2Y 4S8
We love the look and feel of the Ferry Terminal Park playground. The playground has tons of places to climb, slide now, and hang from. Our personal favourite part is the carousel and catching the best view in Halifax.
5816 Cogswell St, Halifax, NS B3H 2Z4
If it is a sunny day in Halifax, we recommending grabbing the minivan, a picnic lunch, and some sunscreen before heading out to Central Commons. The atmosphere at Central Commons playground is perfect. It is close to the skate park, brunch restaurants, and there is a great select of slides for your kids to whip down on.
