Two months ago ChatterBlock launched a NEW feature that allowed parents to rate and review all of the camps, classes, attractions and businesses that are found on our website. In order to highlight this our team ran a business appreciation program called Best of the Block. The purpose of this was to showcase businesses in Greater Victoria and Southern Vancouver Island that rock.
We are happy to announce that our users pulled through big time and submitted some absolutely fantastic ratings and reviews.
We know these reviews and ratings will significantly help everyone in the community plan and register for only the best kid friendly activities.
In particular, some parent submitted reviews stood out to us so much that we thought they were worthy of sharing. Please take a look at what these parents had to say.
My daughter attended this camp for the first time in the summer of 2016. She was 10 years old. I cannot say enough about the excellent engaging program she was involved in. So content rich, offering her skills she could take into real life situations. It also enriched our parent/child communication as she was better able to represent her thoughts and opinions in such a compelling way. This camp is pricey but very much worth it. The bus service was reliable and safe and the meals were nutritious and picky kid friendly!

Both my kids and I are students at this amazing taekwondo school, and can't imagine going anywhere else. Cascadia is a professionally run, well-equipped WTF Olympic-style Taekwondo school that provides expert taekwondo instruction to kids, youth, and adults. What I like most as a Mum is the safe, clean environment in which the kids train – I am especially reassured by the safety-matted gym floors and padded pillars. The well-qualified instructors are friendly and very passionate about Taekwondo, and teach with an enthusiasm and energy that's infectious! Classes are always fun and engaging but also offer a great workout. Most of all, we love the welcoming, nurturing and positive atmosphere of the school, noticeable the moment you walk in! If you're looking for an Olympic-style Taekwondo school, this one is it.

Wow does their description give very little insight into what KATS actually does in the community - these amazing coaches and people spare their time helping kids stay active in an ever digitizing day and age, and they do so with very little expectation beyond maybe sharing with your children their own talent and love for the sport of tennis. Our family highly recommends their classes if your kids have the time to spare and are in the area to catch them!

My daughter has been attending this school for 3 years, since she was 8 years old. She has taken jazz, ballet and hip hop. All of the instructors have been great. The routines are so good. Mumsy makes the most beautiful costumes and Miss Karen runs a tight ship. The year end show is so great to watch start to finish.
I have also taken the adult hip hop summer class and it is so fun. No experience required. Be prepared to laugh and sweat.

Besides the amazing rating and reviews that we showcased above there were also a handful of businesses that received a huge number of positive reviews. In no particular order these business include:
Camp Imadene is da bomb! I've spent two full summers there on summer staff, and a full 8 months with their Auxano discipleship program, where I met my fiancée. Imadene has given me the best memories from being out on the waterfront, hanging out with friends, and most importantly seeing how it positively impacts thousands of kids every summer. Thanks for everything you do Camp Imadene!

Camp Imadene is the place to be! I spend 4 weeks in a row here last summer because I intentionally planned to stay for as long as I could after coming for the first time just last year! The people there are amazing, and it's amazing to be able to talk to anyone there and feel totally comfortable about it. It is such an awesome and welcoming community. And the year-round staff there do a brilliant job of making the activities and program something to remember. And of course, the property itself, is amazing. You get to wake up every morning to the beautiful mountain across the shining lake, and have the sun shine across the entire property as it rises. I will definitely be going back next year for even longer.

Our first year sending our 2 oldest kids. The experience that my kids had and what we experienced as parents was without a doubt incredible. They went above and beyond to help our son with some challenges. They came home completely changed kids! They came home with direction, changed attitudes, and hope for what is to come. Thank you!!!

SO COOL! This place is such a hidden gem. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I went when it was "Tourist in your own hometown" so it was really busy, and it might be nice to go a time that isn't quite so packed. But, I was pleasantly surprised by the flamingos, exotic birds, giant turtles, and of course the plentiful butterflies! One tip- it's super warm in there... so dress accordingly. On the bright side it feels like a tropical oasis even if it's a cold and rainy day outside!

Butterfly Gardens is a favourite of ours to visit among Victoria attractions. I should add that the temperature required for habitat here is quite warm so you won't need your jacket, but despite this, it is very fun! Lots to see and very interactive. You will surely get a kick out of watching your child(ren) interact with the many species of butterflies here. We will certainly be going back. A great attraction for children (and adults) of all ages.

I tried for a few years to teach my girls to ride, then at 7 years and 9 years I took them to Pedalheads. They were riding their bikes without training wheels when I picked them up on the first day! I highly recommend this program!

Pedalheads is a great way to get your kids started on a two wheeler with confidence. They took my timid 5 yr daughter and had her riding over obstacles in a week. Now she's riding trails and her little brother is ready for his first full camp. so she'll be going to learn how to ride with traffic.

Growing up in Victoria, I've been to the Royal BC Museum many times and it's such a lovely way to spend a day. The IMAX is always a hit, and it's especially fun to spend a little extra and see a feature film on the giant screen. One of my favourite times of year to go is the first week of January when it's admission by donation, and they have the exhibit "Wildlife Photographer of the Year" with some of the most stunning images from around the world on display. It's also a great time of year to have some indoor activities up your sleeve!

World class museum. Rather than just presenting artifacts they re-create whole environments in depth whch makes the experience feel real.

Awesome family-friendly local attraction. A great place to bring out-of-town guests with children, too. Fun to get to hold some of the insects, and the guides are interesting and knowledgeable. When I was there I had to leave my stroller aside, so baby-wearing came in handy.

I can't believe I'm the first to review this local landmark! Growing up here, I remember holding the crazy-legged millipede & braving the bug candy assortment thereafter in the gift shop on school field trips - if you're thinking all-ages family entertainment for the WHOLE family in downtown Greater Victoria, then you're probably going to add this possibility to your next family adventure! I couldn't anticipate an entire day's worth at the Bug Zoo however so plan a trip down the road to The Bay Centre or indulge in the delish pastas at Pagliacci's to make a day of it (great rainy day game plan)
