Young & Ambitious: The Life of a Millennial Supermom

Published Nov 19, 2016

Millennial supermoms are a different breed of human women. Most are raising one to three children while living a life that is drastically different from previous generations. The following are five ways that millennial mothers are redefining what it means to be a parent.

Back to the Basics Kind of Parent

The millennial generation is one of the most eco-friendly and organic-seeking generations around. This has pushed many millennial mothers to cook at home and from scratch. It is not strange to find millennial women learning how to bake bread from scratch with organic materials rather than purchasing a bread with processed ingredients like high fructose syrup.

Fitness Matters to Millennials

Millennials are usually just as interested in healthy foods as they are into health living, which prompts them to hit the gym on a regular basis. In fact, one of the most popular exercises that millennials take an active interest in is yoga; tai-chi is coming in at a close second.

Jobs Come and Go for This Generation

Millennials are not afraid of a challenge and are usually game for taking more than one job at a time. It is estimated that more than one-third of all working millennials have a side job. Side jobs could be anything like driving people around using a ride-share application to entrepreneurial jobs at home.

Education Never Stops

Moms of this generation want to grow, which is evident when one notices the amount of jobs a millennial supermom takes. The hunger to be better and to increase the chances of success leads many moms to take online college classes from home or on the go. Keep in mind that this generation is tech-savvy, making online classes accessible from practically anywhere that their lives take them. It’s not just associate’s or bachelor’s degrees that they can get online, though. For example, some are even able to get their masters in organizational development or whatever other field that peaks their interest.

Social Media Rules This Generation

The modern woman is not only looking to better herself through education and by seeking new ways to make money, but she is also a great marketer. This generation has been brought up on social media, which means that many of them know how to market themselves and their businesses well. A woman will use social media platforms or blogs to help further her career one way or another. This active social media life does prompt today's woman to try new things, which helps many become successful net-workers.

It is clear to see just how different the millennial supermom is compared to others. Keep in mind that these mothers are still finding time to spend with their little ones, too.
