Halloween events abound in Ottawa! Scare yourself silly with the best spooky events, scary attractions and Halloween parties taking place in the city. 

The staff at ChatterBlock has compiled a list of some frighteningly fun time events that you will surely enjoy!


1. Pumpkinferno

Just over an hour away from the city, award-winning Pumpkinferno is a mesmerizing installation of artist-inspired glowing pumpkins and is a not-to-be-missed event for all ages! Take a tour through this spectacular outdoor art exhibit of 7,000 handcrafted pumpkins all lit at night along a kilometre-long path in a picturesque 19th century backdrop.

2. Acres of Terror

Visit Cannamore Orchard, Eastern Ontario’s most affordable and terrifying Halloween attraction! This year they have four spooktacular attractions: the Spooky Wagon Ride, House of Terror, Spooky Village and Fog Maze. There are many activities for younger families including the Covered Wagon Tours, Cow Train Rides, Pedal Car Track, Duck Races, Small Kids Activity Area, Patio Stone Mazes and four GIANT Hedge Mazes.

3. Bunker Buddies Halloween Hunt

Get dressed up in your favourite costume and head over to the Diefenbunker on Halloween day. Discover spooky (and cute) ghosts and monsters throughout the museum to collect treats. There’s plenty of open space to run around and have fun in the Bunker. Feel free to bring a lunch and eat in their cafeteria!

4. The Haunted Orchard

If you're looking for night full of frights, take a haunted wagon ride through the Log Cabin Orchard. This is guaranteed to be the scariest journey you've ever taken through an orchard. Each wagon ride is approximately 15 minutes. There is no age limit, but it's recommended that riders be 8 years old or older.  After being scared out of your mind, stick around for music, food, and a bonfire.

When: October 18, 19, 25 & 26, with rides starting at 7pm & 8pm

5. Trot or Treat

This is the first ever Trot or Treat hosted by Ausome Ottawa, which aims to enrich the lives of families living with autism through sport. The funds raised from this event will go to these families and train those who support athletes with autism. 

You are encouraged to wear your favourite costume!

6. Halloween Hijinks

On this day, all the ghosts and goblins come out of hiding – super heroes, animals, and other creatures too! Celebrate Halloween by exploring the origins of Halloween traditions at the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum. You will get to complete a scavenger hunt, participate in spooky Halloween trivia, create your own masquerade mask, and much more.

7. Chillings Estate Halloween Party

Visit the Billings Estate National Historic Site to help put the "trick" back in "trick-or-treat." You will explore the whimsical history of Halloween pranks and complete fun activities and challenges to win a delicious treat.

8. Princess Fall Carnival

On October 27, dress in your Halloween best and visit Flapjack's Canadian Diner for a day of fall-themed activities (face painting, balloon crowns, pumpkin decorating, apple bobbing, parent pie tasting, and a photo booth) for the whole family. Snow White and Cinderella will be hosting the fun. Children will get to take home prizes. Space is limited, so it's recommended to book your tickets early.
