Halloween events abound in Ottawa! Scare yourself silly with the best spooky events, scary attractions and Halloween parties taking place in the city. 

The staff at ChatterBlock has compiled a list of some frighteningly fun time events that you will surely enjoy!


1. A Barnyard Hallowe'en 

It’s a Barnyard Halloween at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum! You are invited to enjoy special activities just right for the occasion: Make some ghoulish treats, create a creepy craft, learn all about bats, visit a spooky barn and take part in Halloween games. Costumed visitors young and old alike can join the costume parade. Children will be able to decorate a pumpkin to bring home too

2. Pumpkinferno

Just over an hour away from the city, award-winning Pumpkinferno is a mesmerizing installation of artist-inspired glowing pumpkins and is a not-to-be-missed event for all ages! Take a tour through this spectacular outdoor art exhibit of 7,000 handcrafted pumpkins all lit at night along a kilometer long path in a picturesque 19th century backdrop.

3. Acres of Terror (Formerly The Spooky Wagon Ride)

Visit Cannamore Orchard- Eastern Ontario’s most affordable and terrifying Halloween attraction! This year they have four spooktacular attractions- The Spooky Wagon Ride, House of Terror, Spooky Village and Fog Maze. There are many activities for younger families these include: Covered Wagon Tours, Cow Train Rides, Pedal Car Track, Duck Races, Small Kids Activity Area, Patio Stone Mazes and our four GIANT Hedge Mazes.

4. Bunker Buddies Halloween Hunt

Go dressed up in your favourite costume. Discover spooky (and cute) ghosts and monsters throughout the museum to collect treats. There’s plenty of open space to run around and have fun in the Bunker. Feel free to bring a lunch and eat in their cafeteria!

5. Halloween pARTy

Visit the Shenkman Arts Centre for Halloween pARTy! There will be crafts, face painting, a photo booth, storytelling, costume parade, bake sale, and more!

6. Halloween Hijinks

This day all the ghosts and goblins come out of hiding – super heroes, animals, and other creatures too! Celebrate Halloween by exploring the potions lab, make a 1920s style Halloween craft, and collect a few treats along the way. For the more daring, you can also visit the Haunted House on the Hill.

7. GNAG Halloween Party

This fun and fantastic event welcomes people of all ages. There will be carnival candy, Haunted House, Preschool Play Room, Kinder Haunted House, Fortune Telling, Bouncy Castle, Halloween Skit and more. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
