This upcoming season are you going to "fall" back into your old routine, or try something new with your kids?

Although the first official start of Fall is still a few days away, it seems like the weather is already cooling down, and the leaves are changing color. Soon you and your kiddos will be racking up a pile of crunchy leaves to play in, and checking out the local pumpkin patch for a doorfront decoration.
Between school field trips, Halloween, and Thanksgiving the fall season can be an expensive month. With that in mind, we’ve come up with a handful of fun fall activities, for budget conscious parents.
Do you have an overproducing apple tree in your backyard, or maybe just have an apple or two that is going bad? If so, we suggest having your kids make this super simple and inexpensive craft. The tools you’ll need? Some paint, a piece of paper, and half of an apple. If your children are young our only caution would be to pre cut the apples, as sharp knives and toddlers don’t usually vibe.
Fall Scavenger Hunt
Often overlooked is the idea of hosting a simple scavenger hunt for your kids. This year, once the leaves start to fall, take your kids out the the great outdoors and have them scavenger around for some fun, fall items. Lists can vary based on the region, however some suggestions include the full color spectrums of leaves, a dandelion, a wild flower, or even a pinecone. The options are endless, so start getting creative.
On your family’s next walk, have everyone keep their eyes open for some pretty, paintable leaves. Our personal favorite is the maple leaf, however as long as you don’t pick poison ivy you should be safe. After your family has collected an assorted of leaves, simply grab some acrylic paints and get crafting. Once the paint dries, these painted leaves make fabulous fall decorations on your fridge, or in a frame.
Sip Away Summer (with a Pumpkin Pie Smoothie)
One of the best things about fall is all the pumpkin goodies. However, when most are chalked full of artificial sweeteners the actual nutritional component of pumpkins is lost. However, we found a kid-friendly, pumpkin pie smoothie recipe that is based on - guess what - REAL PUMPKIN! Add a frozen banana, some spices, and you’ve got yourself a healthy, pumpkin pie smoothie full of nutrients that will keep your skin glowing (carotenoids), your vision in check (Vitamin A), and your waistline wonderful (Fiber). Not to mention, kids will love it so much you may have to make a second smoothie.
Thanks for reading! Hope we revved up your creativity and inspired you to try a new fall activity with your kids.
