Now that spring has finally sprung and the weather is heating up, it is time to start thinking about summer. We absolutely love the idea of sending your kids to an outdoor summer camp. Why not let them soak up some sweet Vitamin D and have a blast with their best friends! In order to help, we’ve filtered through all the local outdoor kids camps and compiled a list of only the best and brightest.
Pedalheads has been offering bike camps since 1995. From training wheels to trails, Pedalheads has safe, fun, and challenging bike camps for children ages 2 to 12. Over 150,000 children have learned to ride with the unique Pedalheads teaching method in small classes led by exceptional instructors.
Half- and full-day camps are available all summer.
This getaway camp facility is located in the Columbia Valley, in the lower mainland of BC.cStillwood Camp and Conference Centre offers adrenaline-filled outdoor wilderness camp activities in their day camps, overnight camps, and family camps.
Timberline Ranch hosts so many diverse activities that take place across 73 acres of woods and farmland that no one should ever walk away without having their kind of fun! Activities include a multi-level ropes course, BMX track, archery, swimming, a petting zoo, hayrides, horsemanship, climbing wall, and more!
With distinct themes, each Adventure Day Camp is united in common goals of inspiring youth to get outdoors, experience ‘only here’ activities, make friends, play, connect with nature, and discover our beautiful British Columbia. Age-appropriate camps are offered for ages 5 to 7, 8 to 12, and 12 to 16, and include themes such as photography, survival, adventure, and counselor-in-training.
Kids Scuba Camp is designed to introduce scuba diving to young people in a safe and fun atmosphere. During each one-week camp, students will partake in five classroom sessions and five pool diving sessions. Campers will find themselves navigating through hula hoops, playing underwater frisbee, watching diving movies, and even exploring the scenes at the Vancouver Aquarium. Camps are open to ages 10 to 16.
Summer Heritage Adventure Camps at BVM allow children to experience different historical adventures. Themes include Back to Nature Week and Outdoor Escapes.
After Camp Club is available to accommodate parents who need a bit more time to pick up their kids.
BC Easter Seals Camps is an overnight summer camping program for children, teens, and young adults with disabilities. They provide safe, fun activities in an environment where the focus is on abilities, not disabilities. All camp activities are designed to build confidence, independence, and peer interaction in a recreational environment.
VanDusen’s camps are immensely popular and often sell out very quickly. Their carefully crafted blend of science, exploration, games, and crafts give children the opportunity to learn and play throughout the beauty of the garden and the conservatory, while fostering positive stewardship of the environment. Days are spent mostly outdoors, but may also include time in the Visitor Centre classroom.
Evans Lake in located north of Squamish, BC, an hour's drive from Vancouver. They are an Outdoor & Forest Education Centre, which offers summer camp for kids. Camp activities include canoeing, a low ropes course, paddle-boarding, archery, rock-climbing, hiking, and more.
