Summertime is approaching, and it's time to decide where to send the kids to camp. Here are our favorite outdoor/adventure day and overnight camps around Edmonton:

Now that spring has finally sprung and the weather is heating up it is time to start thinking about summer. We absolutely love the idea of sending your kids to an outdoor summer camp. Why not let them soak up some sweet Vitamin D and have a blast with their best friends! In order to help, we’ve filtered through all the local outdoor kids camps and compiled a list of only the best and brightest day and overnight camps for Edmontonians.


Pedalheads

Pedalheads® has been offering bike camps since 1995. From training wheels to trails, Pedalheads® has safe, fun and challenging bike camps for children ages 2-12. Over 150,000 children have learned to ride with the unique Pedalheads® teaching method in small classes by exceptional instructors.

Half and Full day camps are available all summer in dozens of locations around Edmonton.

YMCA of Northern Alberta

Edmonton YMCA Summer Camps and Day Camps offer children and youth (ages 3-16) the opportunity to participate in fun and engaging activities.

A wide variety of camps are available, with sports, swimming, and nature camps just to name a few.

University of Alberta Botanic Garden

Have an outdoor adventure at U of A Botanic Garden's nature-based summer day camps for kids age 3-14. All camps include environmental learning, games, crafts and loads of fun and are led by the garden's trained naturalists.

Catch frogs, hike trails, tour showhouses, and rediscover the natural world.

Sportball

Sportball is the premier sport program provider in Edmonton for kids ages 18 months to 7 years old.  In addition to their seasonal classes, they also offer a variety of summer camps throughout the city with a focus on increasing your child's motor skills, pro-social skills, and sport skills.

With a tried and tested curriculum, professional coaches, and lots of time out in the sun, there is no way your little one won't have a blast at one of Sportball's camps!

Mountain Adventure School

Designed specifically for high school students, Mountain Adventure School offers multi-night adventure camps where students gain skills in a variety of outdoor pursuit activities, achieve high school credits, and earn real world certifications. 

Adventures are based from the camp's headquarters near Rocky Mountain House and are spread over multiple sessions and levels.

Keno Hills Stables

Introduce your kids to the world of horses with one of Keno Hills' summer day camps!  They offer a variety of themes, all with the focus of building your kid's confidence and knowledge of riding horses.

They also have a pool to cool off in after those hot summer days!

Edmonton Valley Zoo

Every day your child comes home from a Zoo daycamp, you’ll be amazed by what he learned or what she saw.

Age-appropriate camps range from Animal Adventures Camp (ages 4-5), to Junior Zookeeper Camp (ages 7-10), to Zoo-mazing Race Camp (Ages 11-14), among many others.

Teen Time of Edmonton

Teen Time offers summer camps for ages 7-17 at their beautiful ranch. Campers are divided by age or by specialty camps, such as Riding School for ages 12-17, Paintball camps for boys aged 12-17, Fishing camp for boys aged 10-13, Wagon train for ages 14-17 and Extreme camp for ages 14-17.

Lone Prairie Camp

Lone Prairie Camp is a safe and fun environment where people encounter, respond to and are encouraged in their walk with God.

The Summer Camp program includes onsite camps for grades 1-12 (divided by age groups), hiking & backpacking trips,and even a family camp weekend.

Hastings Lake Bible Camp

Hastings Lake Bible Camp offers summer camps for all ages. The facility includes beds for 150 people, a commercial kitchen, a dining hall, a chapel, and a 2 story lodge and many small cabins. They also provide 2 large RV campgrounds, 1 outdoor fire pit, 1 indoor fire pit, canoeing, basketball, 2 playgrounds and a a large playing field. No public camping is available.

Leduc Boat Club

The goal of the club is to promote programs designed to give communities the opportunity to experience the sports of rowing, canoeing, dragon boating, and kayaking.

They offer week long summer camps in July and August from 8:00am to 4:30pm and have a maximum limit of 12 kids per group, ensuring lots of individual instruction and maximizing safety on the water.  There is also a dedicated rowing summer camp available and parents are welcome to attend the final day of camp to join in the fun!

Shiloh Youth Ranch

Shiloh Youth Ranch is a summer Christian camp for at-risk children and youth ages 7-17. Shiloh Youth ranch provides an opportunity for at-risk children and youth to experience a week-long, high impact relational summer camp. Many of these children and youth, without the ministry of Shiloh, may never have the opportunity to receive hope, encouragement, acceptance, mentoring and unconditional love.

Camp Alexo

Located in Red Deer, Camp Alexo offers opportunities for children and youth to grow and discover their potential.

The agency strongly believes that an outdoor wilderness environment is a setting that can offer unique opportunities for children and youth to learn lifelong skills, discover new interests and to make new friends.
