Top Summer Sports and Outdoor Camps in Portland

It's time to burn off some energy! Having fun while participating in sports is a great way to enjoy the summer, and these camps are here to keep your child active throughout the school break. 

School is over and it's time to sign your kids up for summer camp if you haven't already! Why not keep them happy and healthy at one of our Top Summer Sports and Outdoor Camps? Below we’ve listed only the coolest camps that we guarantee any sports enthusiast will love.

Lumberyard Bike Park

Half-day and full-day Shred Academy Summer Camps at the 'Yard are offered for kids of varying biking skill levels. Camps at this unique indoor bike park will teach kids of all abilities to improve their technical riding and bike handling. Lumberyard's facilities include jump lines, pump tracks, skill sections, and technical trail riding for all levels. Bike rentals are available for campers. Their 2019 Summer Bike Camp runs weekly from June 17 to August 30.

Camp Namanu

Camp Namanu is a program run by Camp Fire Columbia. It was voted Best Summer Camp in 2016, 2017, and 2018 by Willamette Week's Best of Portland Readers Poll. Its 552 acres serve as a great summer getaway where kids can explore the outdoors and participate in fun activities like archery, horseback riding, swimming, arts and crafts, rock climbing, ropes courses, boating, nature exploration, and more! Day and overnight options are available for kids of all ages. Their 2019 camp registration is now open!

Lake Oswego Hunt

The premier Portland-Area day equestrian camp is geared for young horse lovers of all skill levels. Each camper's skill level is carefully assessed and matched with a suitable horse. Campers will learn the basics of horse care and the fundamentals of proper riding that will help them develop into accomplished, safe riders. Horses, helmets and tack are supplied. Their Beginner and Intermediate camps are almost all full for summer 2019, so check them out ASAP!

PGA Junior Golf Camps

To be the best, you must learn from the best. That’s why every junior golf camp instructor has been trained and tested in all aspects of the game by the PGA of America. PGA Junior Golf Camps' promise is to support, encourage, and respect each and every camper and authentically inspire them to reach their full potential, both on and off the golf course. This year in Portland, camps are located at Colwood Gold Center and Heron Lakes Golf Club. Half-day and full-day camps are available from the end of June to mid-August. 

Anthony Newman's Sports Camps

Anthony Newman's Sports Camps are a great opportunity for your child who's looking to learn and develop their skills in a variety of sports - baseball, basketball, cross country, football, lacrosse, soccer, and tennis. And if you child wants to dabble in a bunch of different sports, multi sports camps are also available. Emphasis is placed on the basics and fundamentals and team play. ANSC will provide a fun environment that offers safe, high quality activities supported by trained staff. Their 2019 camps start June 10 and run through the end of August. 

The Circuit Bouldering Gym

Bouldering is a great way to get kids involved in physical activity while having fun. Circuit Bouldering Gym is running Camp Rockstar at each of its three locations, Southwest, Northeast, and Tigard. In each week-long session, kids ages 5-12 will learn how to climb in a fun and social environment that allows campers to explore new terrain and build confidence on and off the wall. Through group games in the gym and at the park, campers will have fun while developing their skills. Their 2019 camps run from mid June to the end of August. 

Catlin Gabel School

Catlin Gabel Summer Camps offer a wide variety of camps, taught by accomplished and dedicated teachers on their beautiful 67-acre campus in Southwest Portland. Sessions this summer will run from June 24 and August 9 and are open to all children in the Portland metro area, from preschool through 12th grade.

MJCC Day Camp

MJCC Day Camp offers full-day fun all summer long with options from 7:30 am – 6:00 pm. Great for working parents and tons of options from traditional day camp to specialty camps including gymnastics, cooking, soccer, movie making, rock climbing and more. All campers get to swim in the pool each day. This year, MJCC camps from June 24 to August 23.
