Now that spring has finally sprung and the weather is heating up it is time to start thinking about summer. We absolutely love the idea of sending your kids to an outdoor summer camp. Why not let them soak up some sweet Vitamin D and have a blast with their best friends! In order to help, we’ve filtered through all the local outdoor kids camps and compiled a list of only the best and brightest.
Week-long day camps are available in the Boathouse District, at Lake Overholser and at Lake Hefner.
Novice camps introduce kids to rowing, paddling, sailing, and the basics of water sports. Additional activities include zip lining, the SandRidge Sky Trail, whitewater rafting and kayaking.
Located in Edmond, Camp Cadence provides an opportunity for kids to learn about horses in a family-friendly and safe environment. Your child will love spending time with new friends learning all sorts of fun lessons about horsemanship, indoor and outdoor riding, and more.
No experience necessary. Open to boys and girls ages 5-13.
Camp DaKaNi welcomes youth 5 to 13 years old to attend camp. At camp, Campers are pre-assigned to small groups of youth of similar ages. Groups are led by a Camp Counselor and participate in scheduled and group planned activities. Groups mark off “Home-in-the-woods” or small campsites that serve as their home base for the week.
Shiloh Camp & Adventure
Shiloh Camp is a Christian, youth leadership, day camp serving inner-city youth ages 8-16 in a fun, high energy, adventure-filled week on 40 beautiful acres right in the heart of the city. Camp activities include fishing, horsemanship, mountain biking, ropes courses, zip lining, and more.
Oklahoma City Zoo
From June to August, several half day and full day camps are offered for kids aged 3 to 15. Among the multitude of camp themes are Bear's Best Friend and Old McDonald for Pre-K campers; Rainforest Rundown and ZooCraft for 8-11 year olds; and Marine Biology Bootcamp and Zoo Vet Camp for High School campers.
