Now that spring has finally sprung and the weather is heating up it is time to start thinking about summer. We absolutely love the idea of sending your kids to an outdoor summer camp. Why not let them soak up some sweet Vitamin D and have a blast with their best friends! In order to help, we’ve filtered through all the local outdoor kids camps and compiled a list of only the best and brightest.



Trackers Earth

Trackers Earth offers the most adventurous summer camps in the Bay Area. They meet at a central location and transport campers to the best local parks and green spaces. Your child will get to explore the outdoors and learn authentic skills. Day and overnight camps feature a range of themes: wilderness survival, homesteading crafts, role-playing adventure, archery, and much more.




Camp Chrysalis

Now in its 34th year, Camp Chrysalis has developed a distinctive approach to environmental education, offering children rich experiences that combine recreation, learning, and personal growth.

Camps take place in three spectacular environments as a family of learners together: Big Sur Redwoods, Mendocino Coastal Tidepools and the Sierra Nevada Mountains.




Roughing It Day Camp

Roughing It is a traditional all-outdoor Summer Day Camp. The flagship 4 & 8 Week Day Camp is celebrating its 44th summer and offers horseback riding, swimming, fishing, canoeing and many other adventurous activities. They also have a 2-week Horse Day Camp for riding enthusiasts and a 1-week Outdoor Explorers program. Free transportation is provided.




Summer ZooCamp at the Oakland Zoo

Is your child and animal lover? If so, the Oakland Zoo takes great pride in creating age-appropriate programs for campers aged 4 through High School.

Summer ZooCamp sessions are one week long and run from mid-June to mid-August.




Treks & Tracks

Treks and Tracks offers various courses and experiences in rock climbing, backpacking and navigation. All guides are trained in wilderness emergency procedures and professional guiding techniques. With over 30 years of combined outdoor adventure experience, each expedition and class has been carefully crafted to ensure an inspiring experience.




Avid4 Adventure

This summer, experience the power of authentic outdoor adventure. Avid4 Adventure camps teach pre-K to 7th graders of all levels to climb, paddle, bike, hike and thrive in the outdoors. With help from a time-tested curriculum and insanely experienced instructors, campers develop solid skills and character-shaping confidence, launching them into a lifetime of empowering adventure.
