Christmas is approaching, and like Santa, there is a lot for us to do! But where are all the fun events? Here is our schedule:

The weather is getting rather frosty but not all is lost, it’s a wonderful time of year to celebrate and enjoy all sorts of community traditions and festivities with your family! 


Christmas Events in Seattle


Holiday Carousel

When: Every Day
Where: Westlake Park

The whirling tradition of the Holiday Carousel returns to Westlake Park. Kids (and adults!) of all ages are welcome to take a spin, with a suggested donation of $3. Proceeds benefit the work of Treehouse, providing foster kids a childhood and a future.


When: Ongoing until December 31
Where: Seattle Center Armory

A Winterfest crowd favorite, a sprawling display exploring an enchanting turn-of-the-century village and train. Take a turn “conducting” the model train ($2 suggested donation).


When: Varied times, until January 3, 2016
Where: Fisher Pavilion

Glide into the season with the greatest of ease and excitement. For novice or Olympiad, Winterfest Ice Rink offers fun for all.


When: Ongoing until January 3, 2016
Where: Woodland Park Zoo

WildLights will feature thousands of sparkling LED lights inspired by nature, wild animals, and wild places! Experience the festive indoor and outdoor displays, ride the zoo’s historic carousel (additional fee), see a few animal friends (including visiting reindeer) and enjoy festive snacks, fun, and entertainment.


Snowflake Lane

When: Nightly until December 24
Where: The Bellevue Collection

You don’t want to miss Snowflake Lane at The Bellevue Collection—a magical evening performance for the entire family. This annual holiday spectacle will include live toy soldier drummers, snow princesses, exhilarating music, animated snow characters, glittering lights all surrounded by snow falling every night along Bellevue Way.

 

Swansons Nursery Reindeer Festival

When: Ongoing until December 24
Where: Swansons Nursery

This annual festival returns to Swanson’s Nursery just in time for the holidays. Come and meet two of Santa’s live reindeer, Dasher and Blitzen, and meet their friend–Curley the curious Camel.


The Best Christmas Pageant Ever & Timmy Perlmutter's Extraordinary Hanukkah

When: November 27 - December 20 (several shows)
Where: Wade James Theatre

See these two great shows back-to-back as presented by Edmonds Driftwood Players. Enjoy The Best Christmas Pageant Ever classic, followed by the one-act musical, Timmy Perlmutters' Extraordiary Hanukkah. 


Garden D'Lights

When: Ongoing through January 2, 2016
Where: Bellevue Botanical garden

Stroll a winter garden with more than 500,000 mini-lights in three-dimensional plant and critter shapes.


When: December 4
Where: Downtown Seattle

Dozens of caroling teams will sing on downtown Seattle street corners and Westlake Center beginning at 6 p.m. Top caroling teams will compete for crowd favor and prizes for the most donations raised, best choral performance, most creative team and people’s choice. Those nominated will compete in a sing-off on the Figgy Main Stage at Westlake Center. Donations benefit Pike Market Senior Center & Food Bank.

Where: Issaquah Dance Theatre

Issaquah Dance Theatre presents “Nutcracker Sweets,” an evening of dance, refreshments and a fundraising raffle. Join us as our dancers perform excerpts from the classic holiday ballet The Nutcracker. In addition, attendees will enjoy refreshments before the performance and can purchase tickets for a variety of exciting items in our raffle.


When: December 4-5
Where: Kent Commons

The holiday bazaar attracts vendors and visitors from throughout Western Washington. These local artists offers variety holiday gifts from fine wood tuned items; one of kind jewelry and accessories; candles and soaps; pet novelties; photography and cards; hand blown, stained glass and mosaic items; gourmet treats and more!


When: December 4-6
Where: Lamb of God Lutheran Church 

Celebrate the beginning of advent and enjoy our exhibit of more than 600 nativities from over 100 countries and territories around the world. We'll have activities for kids and families.


An Elf's Tale

When: December 4-13 (multiple shows)
Where: Bellevue Youth Theatre - Crossroads

The number of kids on Santa's Naughty List grows every year, and no Elf wants the job of giving out coal. Zippity is different from all the other Elves at the North Pole, but does he have what it takes to save Christmas and get rid of the Naughty List for good?


SAMBICA Christmas Carnival

When: December 5
Where: SAMBICA

Pictures with Santa, indoor games and a play area with inflatable bouncy house. Hand-crafted espresso, apple cider, hot chocolate, and snacks. All free and open to the public.


When: December 5
Where: Country Village

It’s a holiday wonderland at Country Village with live reindeer, caroling by local choirs, a whimsical gingerbread house display, surprise visit by the Grinch, and 40 local shops and restaurants all decked out in their holiday best with thousands of twinkling lights. Top it off with an animated light display featuring a 40’ sea serpent, fiddling pig, giant dragonfly, marching ducks and more.

Where: Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center 

Looking for ways to “give back” this holiday season? Visit the Giving Marketplace at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center to connect with organizations making a difference here and around the world. Purchase gifts for your friends and family that support causes like clean water, health, and education. Get involved with issues that matter to you and participate in fun, hands-on activities and exhibits throughout the day.


Holiday Art Market and Open House

When: December 5
Where: Kirkland Arts Center 

Shop for gifts created by local artists and Kirkland Arts Center students in a variety of mediums ranging from pottery to paintings to jewelry. Watch the magic of art-making during Artist Demonstrations and listen to festive live music throughout the day. Artists new and experienced will have a blast learning and sketching during this fun event. 


Recess Monkey Holiday Benefit Concert for Eastside Baby Corner

When: December 5
Where: Springfree Trampoline Issaquah

Come dance, sing, and JUMP with Recess Monkey. Please bring a new unwrapped toy for Eastside Baby Corner to give as holiday gifts to local children in need.


Christmas in Sammamish

When: December 5
Where: Eastlake Performing Arts Center

The Sammamish Symphony's annual celebration of the holidays -- a blend of light classics, seasonal favorites, audience participation, and a surprise or two.



The Elves and the Toymaker

When: December 5-6 (multiple shows)
Where: Hale's Palladium

In true StoryBook Theater fashion, this holiday musical will delight audiences young and old and remind everyone that the spirit of giving is truly the greatest gift of all.


When: December 5-6 (2 shows daily)
Where: Magnuson Park

Thistle Theatre, a puppet theatre for families, presents “Merry Chris Mouse”, an original heartwarming story of sharing at holiday time. 


Choir of the Sound Presents: When Christmas Comes to Town

When: December 5-6 (multiple shows)
Where: Shorecrest Performing Arts Center

Kick off your holiday season as Choir of the Sound celebrates the holidays with traditional carols, the ever-popular “Twelve Days of Christmas”sing-along, and songs from some of your favorite holiday movies, including The Nightmare Before Christmas, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and A Charlie Brown Christmas.


When: December 5-20 (several shows)
Where: Studio East Training for the Performing Arts

From the talented team who create the musicals for StoryBook Theater, this hilarious spin on the familiar holiday poem is guaranteed to have the whole family laughing. Join the Big Family and their menagerie as they await the coming of St. Nick. Now in its 15th year, this Studio tradition includes new surprises each year.

Where: SecondStory Repertory 

Join story time at the North Pole as Mrs. Claus and the elves bring the story of the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge to life in this original adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. 


Christmas With the Gothard Sisters

When: December 10
Where: Edmonds Center for the Arts

The Gothard Sisters, winners of Best New Irish Artists in the 6th Annual Irish Music Awards present: The 2nd annual magical and Celtic Christmas. This concert is full of Irish dance, music and fun for the whole family!


A Festival of Lessons & Carols

When: December 11
Where: Globe Theatre

The Northwest Boychoir proudly presents its 37th annual A Festival of Lessons & Carols concert series featuring eight regional performances in December. These holiday concerts showcase the 90-member combined chorus of the Northwest Boychoir and Vocalpoint! Seattle.


Swag Day

When: December 11
Where: University Heights Center

Swags, otherwise known as wreaths, are popular holiday decorations. Get ready for the holiday season by making your own swags and other kid-friendly crafts.


Tiny Tots: Holiday Hooray!

When: December 11-12 (multiple shows)
Where: Benaroya Hall

Seattle Symphony’s series for birth to age 5, featuring Let Your Music Shine with Lisa & Linda. Musical games, stories and songs. Pre-concert activities 30 minutes before showtime.


Peace on Earth Concert

When: December 11-12 (2 concerts)
Where: St. Mark's Cathedral

Seattle Choral Company performs holiday songs. Arrive at 7:30 p.m. for a carol sing-along accompanied by the Flentrop organ.


Nutcracker Sweets

When: December 11-13 (multiple shows)
Where: ARC Dance Space

ARC Dance brings the magic of The Nutcracker alive for families and the community in this child-friendly version of this holiday classic ballet that will warm your spirit.


Santa Breakfast and Mini Nutcracker Performance

When: December 12-13, 19-20
Where: Century Ballroom

Enjoy a continental breakfast (bagels, muffins, fruit, orange juice, coffee and tea), door prizes, balloon artistry, pictures with Santa and Nutcracker characters, and watch a mini performance of The Nutcracker by DASSdance professionals and kids. 


CookieFest 2015

When: December 12
Where: Seattle Center - Armory Loft

This year's CookieFest will feature thousands of cookies baked by more than 20 of Seattle's best bakeries and culinary schools. Choose a baker's dozen (or two or three!) while the kiddos enjoy free arts and crafts and activities. All proceeds from this event will benefit Seattle Milk Fund's Child Care & Family Support Program.


When: December 12-13
Where: Country Village

As the Village glows under thousands of twinkling lights, Mrs. Claus will be giving out cookies to children from noon to 3pm on Saturday and Sunday. This is a free event for children of all ages!

View live reindeer and our 3rd annual Gingerbread House display, and be sure to visit Santa’s Workshop featuring Santa Photos by Arthur & Associates. Pony and train rides (weather permitting) are open for a nominal fee.

Where: Town Hall 

Celebrate the joy of the season by experiencing the breathtaking voices of the Seattle Girls’ Choir as they share A Gift of Song. Along with familiar tunes, you’ll be introduced to some new songs that are sure to become holiday classics.

A new concert version of an old classic performed by the Sno-King Community Chorale, with touches of magic, mystery, and a large dose of holiday cheer!

Where: University Heights Center

The amazing Xakary the Magician performs his holiday magic show at University Heights. Witness the funny and amazing Xakary as he dazzles children and adults.

Where: KidsQuest Children's Museum

Join Nancy Stewart for a musical celebration of the winter holidays! Learn why we decorate with holly and where children start the Christmas season with a “good scrubbing from head to toe.” Explore the origins of children's holiday traditions around the world through music!


SAM Lights: A Winter Evening of Art, Music & Lights

When: December 17
Where: Olympic Sculpture Park 

Walk the path lit with the glow of hundreds of lights and luminarias, make art, listen to music, sip hot drinks, grab a sweet bite and take in the sights and sounds of the holiday season. This FREE all ages event is sure to enlighten your creativity and dazzle the senses! RSVP requested.
