Summertime is here! This means two things: It’s hot. And, kids aren’t in school. What better way to spend the summer days than to head to a kid-friendly pool or aquatics center to splash around, have some fun, and cool down.
We’ve found some great pools in San Francisco, as well as some worth-while water parks to check out!
After a recent overhaul of the pool and recreation center, this stunning new swimming facility features a large heated pool, a small kiddy-pool, and not one but TWO indoor water slides (and the only ones in the city). A great choice for the adrenaline-loving kids! Also available for rentals and that one-of-a-kind swimming party you always dreamed of.
1900 Geary Blvd
Another hidden gem, Martin Luther King Pool features a massive pool and a separate wading pool for tots. Aquatic programs include learn-to-swim programs, water aerobics, recreational swim and lap swim.
This neighbourhood favorite is filled with natural light and even has noise cancelling ceilings, so say goodbye to the echoes you're used to hearing at public pools!
2699 19th Ave
SF's one and only outdoor public pool! With both a pool and playground, Mission Pool is a perfect place for young ones learning to swim. They also offer programs during the summer months.
1 Linda Street
This neighborhood pool is used by everyone in the community, and has been named as a favorite swimming spot for locals. This family oriented pool has an array of classes and programs, from learn-to-swim, lap and recreational swims for tots, youths, adults, and seniors.
26th & Harrison Street
Here you'll find not one, but TWO pools open for public use. One lap pool and one recreation pool, making it a perfect spot for all levels and ages. North Beach Pool boasts a long list of activities and programs, so it is a good idea to always check their schedule before dropping in!
651 Lombard Street
This is a fantastic place to spend the day for all ages. One giant pool is divided into 3 sections: A wading pool with a water park play structure (great for toddlers), a shallow swimming area for kids to practice their skills, and another area to swim some lengths. The center also features a waterslide that is perfect for first time riders, lounge chairs and picnic tables to bask in the sun, and family changing rooms.
14900 Zelma Street
Not all of the waterparks in San Francisco Bay are for use in the summer only- This indoor adventureland is a lovely 72 degrees year round! There’s a lazy river (my personal favourite!), several slides for different age groups, water fountains, lap pools, you name it, it’s there. This is a great spot for a birthday party, year round.
6800 Mowry Avenue
Aqua Adventure is a 3-acre family-oriented waterpark located on beautiful Lake Elizabeth/Central Park in Fremont. There is a 4-story tower which leads you up to 4 twisting waterslides. There is also a Lazy River, a tots play area, a spray ground and a swimming pool. Aqua Adventure operates from late May through September and is a great way to make family memories that will last a lifetime.
